Everyone is sitting on pins and needles in anticipation for this year’s biggest Gaming release, the World of Warcraft Miniatures Game. While all the excitement continues to build, there are probably a few potential players out there with a question on their minds: “How much does it cost, and what do I get?” Today we’re going to settle this question and give you a sneak peek at what you can look forward to later this year.
For Starters…
Since everyone is going to be new to the game, you’re all going to want to lead off with the Starter Set.

Starter Set
Contents: 2 Exclusive Alliance Minis
2 Exclusive Horde Minis
4 Character Cards,
8 Action Bar Cards
6 UBases
6 Custom Dice
Game Map
Core Set Checklist
Rulebook
Price: $24.99 MSRP
The Starter Set is the perfect introduction to the game, giving you everything you’ll need for the full play experience. Since starter sets for miniatures games aren’t always the best deal, tending toward common minis and unexciting gameplay, we broke the mold for the World of Warcraft Miniatures and went to great lengths to make sure that you’re going to be satisfied!
Right out of the box, you’ll have two Horde minis and two Alliance minis, perfect for quick 2v2 games as you’re learning to play. These minis are also unique to the Starter Set, which means that any Booster Pack can enhance the play experience.
Once you’ve gotten over how amazing the Starter Set figures look, check out the game map and dice that are also included. The World of Warcraft Miniatures have custom dice that make gameplay fun and easy. In addition to the map and dice, the Starter also contains six of Upper Deck’s innovative detachable bases (called UBases) that allow every mini to serve as both a display piece and a functional game piece. These Ubases will not be available in boosters, so you’ll want to pick up at least one starter to get the optimal play experience. We’ve included 2 extra Ubases in the Starter so you can play 3v3 games without having to buy another starter.
Who Needs a Boost?

Booster Pack
Contents: 3 Random Minis
3 Character Cards
6 Action Bar Cards
Price: $14.99 MSRP
As with most games, Booster Packs will be key to building your party. .Each pack contains three minis from one of the three factions, either Horde, Alliance, or Monster. The faction will be randomly determined, so don’t worry about searching for a Booster Pack with Monster artwork just because you’re looking for some new Monster minis.
Inside each Booster you’ll find two Common minis and one Rare. One of the first things you’ll notice is that with the World of Warcraft Miniatures, even a Common is an amazingly detailed sculpt. We worked hard to make sure that every figure is a work of art and you’ll want to keep them all for a dynamic game experience or to display. One in eight Boosters will contain an Epic mini in place of a Common. That means lucky players will get one Common, one Rare and one Epic. We’ve already shown you one example of what it means to be Epic in the World of Warcraft Miniatures Game: Varimathras! World of Warcraft fans everywhere will definitely want to collect all six Epics. As if chasing down epics wasn’t enough, players will also have a chance to open Booster Packs with sample Loot cards from the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game. In case you haven’t heard, the World of Warcraft TCG Loot cards give players who receive them access to unique cosmetic upgrades in the World of Warcraft online game!

World of Warcraft TCG Preview Loot Card

Shortly after the release of the Starter Set, be on the lookout for the Deluxe Edition, which will offer players a premium selection of everything great about the World of Warcraft Miniatures game. Each Deluxe Edition will be packaged with six random minis; three minis each from two of the three factions. This means you’ll be able to play 3v3 matches right out of the box! In addition to these Minis, you’ll also receive matching unique bases and dice for the factions you open.
One of the coolest additions to the Deluxe Edition is that it will feature one of three exclusive game boards that will have different maps to use during gameplay. While the Starter Set map is printed on paper, these Deluxe Edition maps will be of a far higher quality, like the boards you might find in your favorite board games. The Deluxe Edition also includes movable terrain tokens and a scenario guide to let you build your own play experience. You can even put two boards together for a truly epic battle. On top of that, every package will also contain a Sample WoW TCG Loot card!
So there you have it – all the details of what to expect when you open a Core Set, Booster or Deluxe Edition. To make sure that these great products will be available to as many players as possible, the World of Warcraft Miniatures will be launching in November 2008. We know this is not as soon as we had hoped. But trust us, it’s worth the wait!
