Exclusive Preview by John Fiorillo

Druids are one of the classes that appeal most to me as a player. I don’t know what it is, but something about being able to use the strengths of different beasts to my advantage is really cool. You can be prowling around as a cat waiting to pounce on unsuspecting prey one minute, and soaring through the skies as a bird the next. Druids just feel cool. I mean who hasn’t imagined what it would be like to turn into a bird and take to the skies? The first character I created when I played the World of Warcraft MMO was a Druid and I’ve had such a great experience playing it. The best thing about Druids is that they can do a little bit of everything. Some Druids are more suited to some tasks than others, though. Like today’s Spoils of War preview, Vi’gor Darkbreeze.

“My bare  hands are weapons of destruction. What hope do you have?!” (Get it? Bear hands?  HA!)

Vi’gor isn’t the type of guy that’ll be happy sitting on the back lines, Wrath-spamming people. He needs to be in the middle of the action, mixing it up. And mix it up, he can—Look at the stats on this guy! Sitting pretty at 3 Armor, 2 Resist and 9 Health, Vi’gor is one of the toughest characters in the game. Even though you see those stats often, you haven’t seen them on a druid. Taking a form card can make this guy a veritable nightmare for your opponent to kill.

Bear Form on Vi’gor makes him a 4/2/10 with taunt. Cat Form makes him a 3/3/9! That’s bigger than Haruka Skycaller, and we all know how hard it is to kill her. Of course those are some impressive numbers, but what makes him harder to kill than Stephen Segal, is his added healing crit bonus. Any time you’re healing damage your opponent had to work so hard to put on, you’re gaining an advantage. When you’re doing it without spending ticks, well… you’re getting an even bigger advantage. When you have stats like these, think about how many ticks it will cost an opponent to just get damage to stick on Vi’gor. Wiping it away so effortlessly will make it all but hopeless for your opponent.

But Vi’gor doesn’t grant that power to only himself. He grants it to your whole party. With all the possibilities, I see myself reaching for this character often. Critting ain’t easy, but with cards like Master Tactician and Moonkin Form in the upcoming set, it isn’t as hard to plan your game around them as it once was.

And don’t forget that since he’s a druid, your opponent will always be on their toes. You never know what action bar cards a druid is going to throw at you. A timely Rejuvenation, or a surprise Starfire is sure to keep your opponent on his or her toes.

Take some time to figure out which characters Vi’gor helps the most. When you see a guy that really wants to crit, don’t forgot Vi’gor is always there to help out. Whether it’s getting aggressive, providing some healing or protecting someone, you’ll find a lot of uses for Vi’gor Darkbreeze. Hopefully you enjoy playing with him as much as I have.
