Exclusive Figures for Darkmoon Faires and Realm Championships

Starting this May, every player participating in a World of Warcraft Miniatures Realm Championship will receive an exclusive figure and character card. This is a brand new playable figure that will only be available to players at that Realm Championships.

For the Spring 2009 Realm Championships, each player will get a “Death Watcher” figure and character card. These will never be sold in a retail product or given to players at any other tournament.

Players at Darkmoon Faires will have their own exclusive figure to collect. “Mortimer the Malign” releases this June, and will be available only through Darkmoon Faires for the next year. Like the Realm Championship figure, this will never be sold. Every player that signs up for the Darkmoon Faire Minis Championship will get a figure just for participating!

Updated Format for World of Warcraft Miniatures Championships at Darkmoon Faires

Starting at DMF Charlotte, World of Warcraft Minis Championships in North America will have a slightly different structure.

Friday and Saturday will feature at least four DMF Championship Entry tournaments. These will be five Swiss rounds. Players that finish with zero or one loss will move on to the DMF Championship playoffs on Sunday.

Starting Sunday morning, all eligible players will play in four rounds of Swiss. At the end of the four rounds, the top eight players will playoff in single-elimination rounds to determine the Darkmoon Faire Champion. The first tiebreaker for the top eight cutoff will be the player’s best performance in the qualifying rounds. Any remaining spots will be seeded according to the normal Upper Deck tiebreaker procedures.

For example, at the end of the four rounds of Swiss there are three players with a record of 4-0, and six players that are 3-1. Three of the 3-1 players had a 5-0 record in their Entry Tournament, and the other three had a 4-1 record. The three 4-0 players will move on to the top eight, as well as the three 3-1 players that went undefeated in their Entry tournament. The final slot will be determined based on normal tiebreakers from the Sunday morning playoffs.
