MWS - Guide - v3.0 - How to play WoW TCG online

World of Warcraft MWS Patch Status
Latest Version: v3 - Check the following post for the newest update patch in case it is taking me longer to keep up with TinyTode.
    Last Post Update: 4/2/2008

    Huge thanks to Tinytode!... Again!
The update patch from 2.01 -> 3.0 is available as well as a full install version. TinyTode is obviously the greatest person on these forums. =P Please remember that if you come across any errors to let us(mostly TT for the patches)know so we can assist you. I can troubleshoot many MWS errors but Tiny will have to be envolved for patch specific problems.

    Version History
v1.0 - Includes sets Heroes of Azeroth, Onyxia's Lair, Through the Dark Portal, Molten Core, Fires of Outland, Feast of the Winter Veil, and Craft Cards.

Additional Servers to Play On and Tinytode's opinion of them
Mwsplay.net -> This is the default server for MWS.  As such, it is the most used and also the most buggy.  The server is frequently dumping players, and is very unstable.

Mwsgames.net -> This is an alternate server that comes with installation.  It is run and maintained by the same people who maintain mwsplay.net.  It is usually pretty empty, but tends to crash whenever mwsplay.net is crashing.

Pavouk.square.cz -> I stumbled upon this server accidentally.  It has never crashed while I was in a game.  However, apparantly it does tend to prevent connections every now and then.  (Today was a first for me, and I apologize for saying it was perfect.  To be fair, this one still tends to be the most stable.)

mws.ligamagic.com -> Another server I accidentally stumbled upon.  Almost always empty, but I have not used that often (Only when other servers were crashing).  Seems to be stable, but needs to be investigated further (Try playing there and tell me what you think.  Maybe it will be better to take over this one instead.  I just hate WoW being associated with a server with "magic" in the title.

Re: MWS - A complete guide to playing WoW Online.

I believe I've found what was wrong with the Crafted Items cards not appearing in MWS games.  I've corrected the problem, and this patch should correct it for all players.  Once again it is self installing, and will only update the master base file and add an updated crafted cards database.  As such, it is MUCH smaller than the patch above.  Please keep in mind you will need to have downloaded 2.01 for this patch to work.  Here is the link.  Please keep the troubleshooting coming.

Thanks, I was going to add that part too but I was being lazy and it is always long to log in here. =/ The internet is too slow for me. ;)

Hopefully, when the rest of the players get home from Cali they will take interest in this.

Odd my AVG Free Edition detects http://members.cox.net/rexxar/Magic.Workstation.v.0.94f.exe as a Trojan, any other alternative links?

Re: MWS - A complete guide to playing WoW Online.

It is not a trojan but it will be detected because it does alter files. It triggers many anti-virus things. Norton calls it a hacking tool and still wants to delete it. There is no other program to enable online play. I posted the crack here because all the crack sites are full of trojans and spyware if u don't know where to look.

Re: MWS - A complete guide to playing WoW Online.

Awww..... are you really that lonely for someone to play against with Laurish at Worlds? Tell ya what: make me some sexy MotL Aldor-aligned Warlock deck that uses the fat new demonology pet then call me so I can tell you where to upload the file to and I'll play :) ... uh, make that I'll play after TC gets done fixing my car =P

This guide would be more helpful if you included the ways to find other players online.

Re: MWS - A complete guide to playing WoW Online.

If you read my guide at all you will see I posted exactlly how to connect online and suggested game names.... Not many players use MWS hence the reason I am posting it so more players do and it is easier to find someone else to play against.

I am sorry that the effort I put into this guide did not meet your expectations.

Re: MWS - A complete guide to playing WoW Online.

Utterly awesome compilation of all of the MWS stuff...I'll definitely have to pass this along to friends who want to play online.  One quick question though, you mention a WoW theme to get th card looking right, but the theme isn't included in your file, at least not that I can see.  Where does one obtain the theme file?

Re: MWS - A complete guide to playing WoW Online.

If you wish to connect to a server in order to find a game, use either mwsgames.com or mwsplay. I prefer the former because it is a lot more stable than mwsplay, however the latter is more commonly used.

Re: MWS - A complete guide to playing WoW Online.

Both of those servers are very unstable at times.   There is a better server to use, that is never crowded, and never crashes:

    pavouk.square.cz

Hopefully, once I get set up at my new job, I will be able to use the company server to create a WoW only server, but that is very up-in-the-air at the moment.
