    Confused Casual Player

Okay, I have a lot of unrelated questions that I would appreciate answers to. Me and my friend have debated long on some of these and its getting to the point where we can't play together due to disagreements, so any references with your answers will be helpful.

    1) Are Quests and Locations are counted as "Resources"?
Ie. If they had 5 face down cards, 2 quests and 1 location, would that be 5 or 8 resources in play?

    2) When you have duel wield, and tap both weapons to deal 5 damage, would this damage be applied to your hero, then you tap your hero to attack 1 target? Or do you leave your hero untaped, or Can you propose a different target with each weapon.

    3) When Krixel Pinchwhistle specifies "Ready all of your other Arena Cards" Does this specify Arena Locations, and Arena Quests as well?

4)If a card's (Ie. Dirty Work) ongoing effect specifies that if your hero would deal Non-combat damage it is now combat damage instead, when i play an ability such as Kick, deal 2 meleedamage to target hero or ally, may they attack my hero back? and would the ability gain modifiers from shouts such as +1 atk, or -1 atk?

    5) Blackened Spear (Blackened Spear has +1ATK if an ally with arcane torrent is in your party. This is also true for berserking, hardiness, war stomp, and will of the forsaken.) Does this increase the Attack of this weapon by 1 for each, or only once?

    6) Can somebody clarify how War Stomp works for me?

    7) If a warlock used that card that removes their deck from game, then they can draw from that deck. If I destroy that card does their deck come back into play face down? Or do they instantly loose since they cant draw any cards?

Thanks I'll add more if any more issues come up =)

    Re: Confused Casual Player

    1 yes 8
2 you must exhaust you hero to attack, then during the atttack you can strike with 1 or 2 weapons if u have dual wield.
3 yes, anything that says arena in the tag line is readied
4 no, it isn't combat, but it counts as combat damage. those effects can only be used in a combat
5 do a check, do you have wotf in you party? yes +1. do you have hardiness in your party? yes +1. etc   you only get 1 atk for the keyword. thus it has a max attack (from its own power) of 8.
6 ally attacks, attack is legal, i choose to exhaust a hero or ally, then someone can protect. It basically gets around protector but can also use the effect in tricky ways, like exhausting an ally and playing johnny rotten to deal 3 to that ally.
    7 you win

    Re: Confused Casual Player

    1. Any card in your resource row is a resource, which can be exhausted to pay the resource cost to play cards or use powers.  Quests and Locations, like any other card, can only be placed face-up in your resource row as resources.  Any other card may be placed in your resource row as a resource face-down.

    2. You do not attack with a weapon and you do not directly deal damage with a weapon (unless it has a power that does such).  You attack with your hero, just like you would with an ally... the only hitch is that your hero normally has 0 ATK.  Then, during the defend window of combat, you may strike with a weapon by paying its strike cost and exhausting it in order to increase your hero's ATK by the ATK of the weapon.  Then during combat conclusion, your hero deals combat damage equal to its ATK just like an ally would.

    3. This includes any card with the Arena tag... be it an ally, weapon, etc.

    4. Unless an ability or power states otherwise, an opposing hero or ally does not deal damage back when you deal damage to them with an ability or power.  The only time two opposing cards deal damage equal to one another is during combat conclusion, and playing a card or using a power does not begin a combat.

Dirty Work's power makes all damage your hero deals count as combat damage for the purposes of cards like Deadly Poison, which can only be attached to a hero or ally that was dealt combat damage by your hero this turn.

    5. Blackened Spear will get +1 ATK for each keyword, not each instance.  So suppose you have two allies with Arcane Torrent and one ally with Hardiness in your party, Blackened Spear will get +2 ATK (one for an ally with Arcane Torrent and one for an ally with Hardiness).

    6. I assume you are referring to the keyword power, as the ability card seems fairly straightforward.  War Stomp states that "When this ally attacks or defends, you may exhaust target hero or ally."  So if you propose an ally with War Stomp as an attacker, when the combat step starts and the ally exhausts in the attack window it is now attacking and triggers War Stomp's power, allowing you to exhaust something.  So you would be able to exhaust a Protector before it is able to protect, for example.

A hero or ally is defending when it becomes the defender during a combat.  So if your opponent attacks your ally with War Stomp with another hero or ally, after the protect point if the ally with War Stomp is still defending (you did not use a Protector, for example) then you will be able to exhaust something.  The attacker is already exhausted, so you cannot stop the current combat, but you can exhaust another ally so that it cannot attack this turn.

    7. Neither.  When Forbidden Knowledge loses its powers or leaves play, that player's deck will remain removed from the game.  However, a player does not become decked until he is required to draw from an empty deck.  So while your opponent may have an empty deck, he will not lose until he is required to draw from it.  This affords your opponent time to win by dealing fatal damage to your hero, or perhaps using a card that would shuffle cards in their graveyard back into their deck so that they no longer have an empty deck.

    Re: Confused Casual Player

If those effects only happen in combat.

Why does a card like "The Depth of Shadows" make any sence? Your hero deals 1 melee damage to target hero or ally. Its controller destroys one of his resources for each damage dealtht his way.

How would I increase the damage done by this card?

    Re: Confused Casual Player

You would need an effect that increases damage dealt with abilities or non-combat damage, like the Heroic Presence power.

    Re: Confused Casual Player

I'm not too sure about Heroic Presence, but I hear Inspiring Presence is pretty nifty for increasing non-combat damage.
