    Did WOWM just get cancelled!?!

I jsut got an email from a coolstuffinc.com that all WOWM product has been put on hold without a release date.  Did we just get cancelled?!  Anyone know what is going on?  This cannot be a good sign.  As far as i can determine this will include Onyxia as well.  I really hope i am wrong.

Likely, your latest issue of Paranoid Gamer was lost in the mail. If you have further subscription issues, contact player at someonewhocares dot com.

Minis had its next set pushed back, but the gang from UDE are doing so much work behind the scenes to keep things fresh in a meta that is growing stale.

best advice i've heard so far from others is, "don't panic."

    Cheers!

In fairness, UDE has not done their utmost to keep customers in the loop.

I love the Worlds and Realms scenarios too, it's very refreshing that they're still supporting OP and going to lengths to keep things interesting.

But is it really surprising that players who don't frequent the forums might think the game is getting axed when the extent of official announcements on a totally MIA product is a random post in one of several threads asking about it?

On a more positive note, I look forward to a chance to shake hands with UDE reps at worlds, and I hope they'll announce a few things about the future of minis for attendees.

    Cheers!

I just got the email from CSI and looked over all the threads.  There were no threads that said anything, so i got worried.  This isnt exactly a great and profitable time for games.  Thanks for the link BD.  I was having dreamblade flashbacks.

Well regardless of it being canceled or not, the game is pretty much dead. This long of a hiatus would kill any game except magic.

People will probably show up for the prerelease, and then a couple weeks after, but no one is showing up currently and any resurgence won't last long.

It is sad when a company doesn't support its own game, for whatever reason.

How many people showed up to play minis for Worlds and DMF?

The sky isn't falling.  Its just floating a little low right now.

The smart thing it seems like for UD to do would be to do a complete relaunch of the game once they get this straightened out.  Like more advertising, more tournaments, that sort of thing.  If the game is on hiatus for this long they'll need to do something to get players reinterested.

Unless they changed it, Souls has a new Deluxe Starter, which is a great deal for starting players.

Indeed.  D&D was considered dead three times, yet still defines the industry, MtG did not make it big until Revised which we now know was 4.0 or something.

WoWminis has mechanics not needing a update*, and the core are still viable options in parties, so a relaunch could be all marketing.  If Blizz can get Mt Dew to change from green I think they can get the marketing right.   O:)

A relaunch is an exciting prospect for a grognard like me.

On the main page of Potomac Distribution, they have an announcement that Souls of Vengeance was cancelled.
From the Blog dated 10/6/09: "We found out today that Upper Deck has canceled its upcoming World of Warcraft Miniatures expansion, Souls of Vengeance. We are uncertain whether this signifies the end of the WoW Minis game, but that certainly seems likely."

I talked with John repeatedly this weekend and was assured that they are five sets ahead and that Souls will certainly be coming out VERY early in the new year.

Also, for what it's worth, Potomac didn't carry any of Zendikar (MTG's new set) and won't be carrying MTG anymore apparently. That's not a good sign for Potomac, and their new decree might be more a personal reflection of business rather than a reflection of UDE's future.

EDIT: LOL. That post about SoV being canceled was posted on Oct 6th, two days before Worlds. Pretty sure that if it were canceled, we all would have heard about it much sooner. LOL.

Here's something interesting that I got on Twitter today: "Upper Deck Entertainment has now acquired the license for a new Hello Kitty TCG."

Seriously?  Delay Minis and pick up mother blinking HELLO KITTY???!?

This world is not long for me...
