One Man's Junk: Part One, Lorlai Risingmoon

Welcome to One Man's Junk, or Woman's if you prefer, whatever. Here I will attempt to engage your amusement with the wild gyrations of my not so dizzying intellect. If you are looking for the next Teir 1 team, this is not the place to find it. These bands are for the mentally unstable only, being the exercise of a frenzied mind. I will take pieces considered subpar and try to build a workable team around them. This weeks victim: Lorlai Risingmoon.

Priests of the non-Shadow variety are generally considered unplayable right now, what with a range of only 2, fragile bodies, and insome cases a slightly elevated honor cost due to OCHs. What fascinates me about Lorlai is her crit. +1 armor and resist counters that, barring Purge, Spellsteal or Dispel, don't go away. Build enough counters and Lorlai could become virtually unassailable. Plus that OCH and that occasional debuff removal can't hurt, right? She needs to crit then, and if possible, accelerate her attack, because 4 ticks is a long time between attacks to not be gaining extra defense counters.

    Team 1 - Epic Support; 24-25 Honor
    Lady Jaina Proudmoore
    -Arcane Flux
    -Summon Greater Water Elemental
    -Polymorph
    Savin Lightguard
    -Blessing of Kings
    -Hammer of Justice
    -Cleanse
    Lorlai Risingmoon
    -Bracers of Nimble Thought
    -Smite
    -Mass Dispel

This setup actually is probably the most powerful, and amazingly enough makes Smite really good. But honestly, who runs an epic as a support figure, especially since this could just as easily be JSX, where X is any caster.

    Team 2 - Jumpstart; 19 Honor
    Vindicator Hoodon
    -Blessing of Kings
    -Blessing of Protection
    -Flash of Light
    Jezbella of Karabor
    -Arcane Flux
    -Polymorph
    -Ice Cube
    Lorlai Risingmoon
    -Power Word: Fortitude
    -Smite
    -Mass Dispel

Devotion Aura and Kings give a big jump up on everyone's defenses and combined with PW:Fort (yes, I know it isn't as cool since it was errata'd) should give decent longevity to the team. Jezbella could really be any Ally mage, but I like her for Enhance Magic.

    Team 3 - Doublemint; 18 Honor
    Lorlai Risingmoon x2
    -Power Word: Fortitude
    -Holy Nova
    -Psychic Scream
    -Mass Dispel
    -Shadow Word: Pain
    -Doomfinger (yes, I went there!)
    -Smite
    Elanna Starbreeze
    -Master Tactician
    -Hunters Mark

Doubling up on the Lorlais really lets you branch out with Priest ABCs. I figure once one Lorlai has a half dozen or more counters on it, why not give Doomfinger a try and unleash it on some not so unsuspecting opponent, seeing as how it was face up the whole time.

    Team 4 - Doublemint Balanced; 16 Honor
See above, but replace Elanna with:
    Yanna Dai'shalan
    -Moonkin Form
    -Mark of the Wild
    -Entangling Roots

Mark of the Wild is Resto, but I figure it is worth running anyway, since it lets the buffed ally reroll anything, which is phenominal IMO. If you want to see a figure featured in the future, just put it in a comment.

Good idea for an article.  Can I request a few to be looked at?  Bogstrok Razorclaw, Rexxar, and Ras Frostwhisper.

I hope you continue making these articles, it is a good idea.

As for Lorlai, I think I might do something like Savin with Bulwark and BoKings to keep her alive long enough to build up some counters, then probably Elanna with Old bones (again to keep her alive longer) and master tactician, and finally give Lorlai a mana potion.  If you are facing a purley magic team you could easily have her at 6 resist by tick 5.  At that point she becomes the best healbot ever, since your opponent won't ever even take a shot at her.  Of course, no one runs a pure magic team, but those are just details...

I'd like to see something with Chen.

    Master Tactician and Rexxar...

Anything that dies to Purge is unplayable by virtue of anti-Ice Block splash damage.

I had to kill my Magdeline team project for Boston for this very reason.

While I appreciate the feedback, knowing that you have rather extensive play experience, particularly with off the wall bands, and that you took time to read the wall of text, I think you may have missed sentance four of paragraph one. Please stay tuned for more fun...
