    Chancellor Velora "FoH"

Ok so i have seen some of the cards that priests got with the FoH set and i think they could be pretty good. Here is what I have so far and I would love for you guys to make some suggestions!!

    Chancellor Velora:

    x4 A taste of divinity

    x4 searing light

    x3 holy nova

    x3 absorb magic

    x3 melt face

    x3 greater heal

    x4 mist of corrosion

    .....(your suggestions here)

    x3 doshura

    x3 munkin

    x3 vex master

    ....(any more dudes?)

    x3 undercity

....(i am unsure what quests i should run in this deck)

I was thinking i could possibly make this deck a spin off of the old benediction deck while using searing light and graveyard recursion as a kill mechanism.  Also, possibly using belt of blasting.  I would love to hear what you guys are thinking for this deck!!

What are your win conditions? What can you drop to really swing the game in your favor?
Belt of Blasting could be a start. Greench? Voidfire Wand?

Dev'thir makes a great addition to this list. He's a good beater and can do some crazy things.

Searing Light can kill people. =)

I'd prefer Voidfire Wand in a priest deck. Between simply Mental Anguish and Shadow Word: Agony, it can be very easy to pressure an opponent's remaining cards with the wand. Blasting I am not a fan of as it is about as resource-dependent as Searing Light, and Greench seems less than stellar in a format with Hesriana.

This is what I've got so far:

    4 Searing Light
    4 A Taste of Divinity
    4 Holy Nova
    4 Mental Anguish
    4 Shadow Word: Agony
    4 Mist of Corrosion
    4 Melt Face
2-4 Cannibalize (I would rather play this than Greater Heal although some mixture is needed)

    3 Zhardoom
    3 Voidfire Wand

Gas is going to be a problem. I dont like Clarity of Thought or Benediction as they seem unnaturally conditional. I think the control decks can blank Clarity fast enough while Benediction is only going to be triggered while playing worse cards. Of these two I've found myself wanting to run Mana-Etched Pantaloons, of all things, since it is far easier to get to 7 cards in hand with the proper quest base. It also gives you some overwhelming card advantage and fuels the discard outlet of Searing Light (which I think will be your most frequent way of winning games).

    Re: Chancellor Velora "FoH"

indeed searing light can kill people and is a win condition in this deck. I have considered greench and possibly the wand. I suppose i can run discard + wand and then use the useless discard cards to pump searing light then run graveyard recursion...that is something to consider.  But a problem is card draw. I agree i dont like clarity of thought, but with benediction and some healing you can quickly get to your kill cards.

Does anyone have any good ideas to help boost the card draw aspect of this deck??

Blind Faith is pretty amazing when you are out of gas. Every turn you dig 3 deep for an ability (toolbox) or for a useless ability to toss to searing light... seems good.

    Re: Chancellor Velora "FoH"

I've been trying to make a Holy Priest work since the pre-release and it just has some major flaws that I can't work out.

Card draw is a huge one... I initially was very interested in Blind Faith but lost interest quite quickly.

The other problem I have is from my different setups I can't seem to find a deck that doesn't get completely facerolled by Daspien or Varanis. (Especially Daspien)

In regards to the above decklist, I don't have any great suggestions (as I'm still stumped myself) but what do you do in regard to equipment?  Lose the first game and then side?  It just seems like the deck isn't focused in any aspect...
The only card draw other than 11 quests, which is extremely low, is 4 Sivandras...Seems like you will run out of gas very quickly

    Re: Chancellor Velora "FoH"

I will agree that against a decently fast equipment based rogue, you will lose the first game, but i believe after siding, that both the next two games will be in your favor. The close game will be somewhat close, but in there favor.

As far as card draw, yes it is somewhat slow. the quests themself lend to refilling your hand. I have played a few test games on Lackey. By turn 5, you will only have 2-3 cards in hand (normally) but you will have both call to arms on the table. You can complete both of those for 5 resources, and end up with 3-4 more cards in your hand. Which is huge. Not to mention you don't have to worry about any ally recursion on there side as you have undercity. And you should be able to keep up with any threats they lay down (minus equipment) and lay down one of your own.

    Re: Chancellor Velora "FoH"

I see equipment removal as being the problem that Holy priest has right now.  There are decks that are made and broken based on a couple key pieces, and you need a way to deal with them.

    Re: Chancellor Velora "FoH"

There are plenty of decks out there with out equipment removal. Priest, Hunter, Shaman, Death Knight. Now Shaman and Priest have both had a showing in the t8 for a while with respective decks. But yes I will agree it does hurt w/o it.

I believe priest has a few answers, Mist of corruption is the main one. The other one that i was debating running was Darkmoon Faire: Madness. Which i think is a decent answer to anything they will throw on the board. The other answer, which i have side decked is Battle Mages Baton. Which is also an answer to anything they will throw on the board.

    Re: Chancellor Velora "FoH"

I have changed my sidedeck around based on this view.

    2 Absorb magic

    4 Mists of Corruption

    4 Munkin Blackfists

So that gives us 8 answers to equipment in the side deck, 4 of which can be used to sac for 3 damage. May not be the best options, but they hopefully will work.

    Re: Chancellor Velora "FoH"

As much as I liked Mists when from the preview, I don't think it holds up to snuff in Constructed.  In some decks with limited numbers of equipment, it can make a difference.  But against a solo deck, or anything with more than a few pieces, it's sub-par.  Then again, my bias might be because one of the playtesters in our group refuses to ever stop playing his Mother Misery deck.

DMC:M I actually have in a couple decks, and like it, but it doesn't help when you really need to destory something.

    I love the Baton.

    Re: Chancellor Velora "FoH"

For equipment removal you can rely on Munkin Blackfist, Tatulla and even Jon Reaver. I know they aren't abilities, but they are solid allies that generate card advantage for you. And in a deck with limited drawing capacity, they can be a blessing.

    Re: Chancellor Velora "FoH"

So you are thinking Tatulla instead of Mists of Corrosion? i think mists definately have there place, sure they may have an equipment in hand that they discard instead, but you still got rid of there equipment.

If you play mists and they discard the equipment in hand instead of destroying the one on the board, you still need 1 more equipment remove item to get rid of what's on the board.

If you play Munkin, you destroy what's on the board, but they will just play the one in the hand, so you still need 1 more equipment remove item for what is now on the board.

The benefit i see to mists, is that it has a chance to work against all decks, and can also fuel searing light. where as munkin will give you a threat on the board. There are many ways to look at it, and both are decent.

I think i still like mists over tatulla simply for the versatility reasons. but tatula not only gets rid of something, but gives you a threat. i would like to hear further opinions...
