has this ever happened to you?

so yesterday i was bored and decided to make a red traitor warlock deck.  this is your typical traitor warlock that you see in recent constructed tournaments, but i just wanted to try it out and see how to play it.

i end up cramming 73 cards into the deck and realized i put too many in.  so i cut down to 60 with a few different perks that made it so i did not just copy and paste the deck.  after its all trimmed and the side deck is complete i realized a very important card was missing.  i owned all the common, uncommon, rares, and epics to this deck (which is not something i can always say), but i was missing the absolute one thing that you need to make a deck.

Apparently i never owned the actual hero, Plague Demonsoul..........

has anyone else ever went through building an entire deck and realized they were missing the hero?

Re: has this ever happened to you?

Can' say that I have, I always start my decks by choosing a hero first, then building with race, spec, and all that good jazz in mind.

That's about as massive a fail as it gets..
Laziest judge you'll ever meet. No, really.

I would let you borrow mine, but it probably wouldn't fit in your deckbox.

Re: has this ever happened to you?

Do you actually need the hero CARD to have a legal deck?

(in limited they let you write your hero on a piece of paper)

Yeah, you do. I've seen multiple round one losses handed to hero-less players at Conts and DMFs.

Happened with my Koo'zar deck.  Luckily when I went to the BG the TO had opened up a box of BoG the week before (I helped him open) and I bought the hero for a buck.

I think that you Leonard have as much of a chance of having a sexual relationship with Penny as the Hubble telescope does of discovering at the center of every black hole is a little man with a flashlight searching for a circuit breaker.

Yeah collecting all the heroes from Betrayer was actually a real mission - i think I'm still missing some myself.

Re: has this ever happened to you?

I've done it twice I think. Both times was because I saw the card scan online somewhere and though "I can make a cool deck with that Hero". I went made the deck, sleeved it, made sure it was at least 60 cards. Then went crazy looking through all my stuff (I play a few TCGs and Minis games) to find the hero. Then after ten minutes of ripping apart my collections, realizing I never had the card! I think sometimes "gamers" get too wrapped up in their favorite game.

Re: has this ever happened to you?

I've gone the other route before - built a deck on paper or through Card Vault and then go to pull the cards from a binder only to find that I either don't have enough of the card that I want or those cards are in another deck which I gotta go cannibalize or make proxies of for placeholders.

Re: has this ever happened to you?

I actually recently (a couple months ago) went through all my cards and trimmed the fat.  I now own:
8x common/uncommons of every set.  The rest are in a box waiting to go to a good home.
2x Every hero - Just in case I lose one...LOL, rest are in that same box.
12x Every Quest - Because sometimes I get on a quest kick and put it in every deck I play.  Rest in a box awaiting a good home.
8x Every equipment - that I own, certain things like Bringers/Perdition's Blades/etc are just a single playset.  Some I don't even own a full playset of, sadly.
Rares - All in the binder, and in a trade box with the left over (more than 4-ofs).
EA's I actually got a count of all my EA's no more picking up duplicates at BG's thinking I still need one to finish the playset....I own 9x EA Forces of Jaedenar for christs sake.  Usually from thinking that very thing...week after week.

Re: has this ever happened to you?

Most of the time my brother and I don't actually own the hero, we have to order it online. Usually with its entire set though, but we often lose the others lol
