    BlizzCon Props / Slops!

EDIT: Adding to the slops- this internet for making me triple post.

BlizzCon is now over =[ I had so much fun yet so much frustration at the same time.

Ignoring the obvious horrible starting with tickets and such, we finally got our loot bags. The guy hands me one which I give to the girl with me, and then opens another box and gives me and the other two in my party bags from that.

We get home and check out our stuff. The girl opens hers and finds Sinnamints, QQ Tissues (How fitting) and two bumper stickers in hers... We open our three and we didn't have either of the 3 in ours, and she had everything else we had. Everyone got the mints and tissues, it turns out they just forgot to put it into our three bags.

So I'm like crap, oh well... at least I have a nifty pen that lights up! I grab it, push it down to light it up, and it explodes and hits me in the face with one spring while 3 others go in different directions- yep my pen was broken too.

At this point my loot bag pretty much has nothing in it, as the two coolest things were either broken or forgot to put in, I go back to the counter and ask about it. They just laugh and say there's nothing they could do. I even showed them the pen, and ironically as I did it broke open again and we lost a piece on top of it.

So on top of that while I was playing a round my buddies went to get a YoYo for me (they had cool ones). They ended up getting one themselves and having it be the very last one in the container. I sigh, and 5 hours later they refill the container and he goes and grabs me one while I am playing again, then they run out. He sits beside me and uses the YoYo once, and it breaks in half without touching anything. What the hell?

This was before the show even started. Next part was the line for the BlizzStore. Since it's Blizzard, I assumed things were going to sell out- specifically the Arthas Helm and a couple other things. Because of this I bolted into the line, which didn't look too long.... 2.5 hours later we're not even half way, but at this point I've waited too long to just leave. We finally get to the edge of this row and see Arthas' helm, it's like 1/10th of the size I assumed it was and there was no way I was going to purchase it. So... that leaves me with shirts, a hoodie and a bag. I get an XL hoodie, even though I usually fit medium, and always fit L... just wanted something comfy. It's night time now so I take it out and put it on. What the hell? It doesn't fit. Yep, this XL fits worse than a real M. I ask my buddy to check his out, and his has the same problem... The hoodies size were multiple sizes lower than what they actually were- especially in length.

I eventually got it exchanged though (in 30 seconds late the last night when they still had everything i wanted- why did I wait in a 5hr line?) and am using a 3xXL which is absolutely ridiculous for my size (I wear M/L shirts), and it's still a little short.

Well, that's my random ramblings.... here's a smaller list

    Props:

-The players, they were all awesome
-The atmospher, I had a ton of fun
-Diablo 3. DIABLO 3. DIABLO THREE!
-Video Games Live + L80ETC...good show, especially the pianist.
-A select few of the judges
-Me for actually winning a Gadgetzan (What should I choose?)

    Slops:

-The majority of the judges knowing less rules than the average player, I understand how hard it is to get staff though, and they were all helpful in getting the right ruling from the head judge. I guess this isn't really a slop.
    -Blizzards stuff breaking on me
    -The chick yelling HOLLA!
-The internet making me triple post and sucking so bad it takes me 15min to check my e-mail.

Anyways, any good BlizzCon stories? Let me hear em.

I was one of the judges there and that noise from the ATI booth was really distracting, having to scream at the top of my lungs while running Minis tournaments and beginners tcg tournaments was not the ideal environment for that.  I'd say that for the most part all the judges did a great job being that it was little more than organised chaos they literally just grabbed us at random handed us product and said go run a tournament, made the anounements and off you go. I did hear a judge go ask how "long range" worked so clearly he must have been a yugioh judge or something. I was just really happy for the opportunity to introduce the game to new people and they seemed to really enjoy it. The minis game was nothing less than awesome, but we all had to pretty much fake it there since there were no Comprehensive Rules. all in all things went remarkably smooth and I had a fantastic time.

I'm actually still in Anaheim now. Internet at the Ramada isn't bad. I think having been to last year's Blizzcon it was very noticeable how much larger the crowd was this year. The lines were all ridiculous, we went straight to the store and waited about 2 hours the first day and barely made a dent in the line. We decided to cut our losses having missed a panel I wanted to see already. We got our stuff the next day, but having been there late on Saturday it looked like they didn't really sell out of anything I wanted (mainly the messenger bag) so I wish I could have just waited when there was no line then.

I don't know how much more I could have taken of that ATI girl either. Not sure if she was trying to "connect" with the crowd or be so fake that it was supposed to be funny? But yeah it made 2 rounds of the loot card safari much more difficult to concentrate. On that note I finally did pretty well in a constructed tournament with some really tough competition. (Sacramento players I'm looking at your direction for one). The minis were pretty awesome, I didn't have time to play in a beginner's event but I did buy a decent amount of products so yay for UDE for having it available to buy. And I even got a slashdance loot out of it!

All in all it was pretty fun. I hope if they have another one next year they find a way to somehow alleviate the line situation so you're not spending the entire day in line. Props for UDE for having a lot of events aimed towards new players. Here's hoping we'll see that influx of new blood!

maybe next time they could put the AMD/ATI booth somewhere else where it will be less disruptive

like in a wood chipper for example

Nice pic.  looks like Damien was all ready to go play some YGO.  It was cool to put a face with your name as well.  I also enjoyed the match we had on Friday, and I hope you have better luck next time.

Hey man likewise.  Constructed was horrible, but my luck turned around for Limited.  I had fun throughout the weekend anyhow!
