So anyone else excited about Demon Heroes?

I just found out I can play Sudden Death and Form of the Serpent with amazing 3 cost 4/4 Demons with Death Shocks Gut Shots.

Anyone know if they can use equipment at all?

Re: So anyone else excited about Demon Heroes?

The deckbuilding rules stated on their card don't say they can use equipmetn, so I'm going to hazard no. Since they seem to state everything you /can/ use, and everything else is a no.

No, the currently previewed demon heroes cannot use equipment, unless they release traitor equipment or the likes.

Re: So anyone else excited about Demon Heroes?

I have a demon deck built already so i can have enough time to tweak it for regionals. If they release traitor equipment then obliveron is going to be a force to be reckoned with. Right now though with what they have previewed i dont think any demon hero is going to be a big problem. The fact that it is incredibly difficult to build a side board with the restrictions they give doesn't make them a viable candidate. Form of the serpent is not very good in obliveron because there are no weapons yet.

Would not be surprised to see Traitor Equipment cards then. That will be fun for Demons and Traitors alike.

Re: So anyone else excited about Demon Heroes?

Neither of the previewed Demon Heroes are viable yet. Although Obliveron has some powerful possilbities, it lacks Ability/Equipment destruction, (only Totem of Decay and Spiritual Domination on Tatulla) has no equipment as has been mentioned, and cannot heal/protect itself except for Sarmoth and Hukkath. However I do have a nice Obliveron deck that has been working well for me =] (see "Fanatic Obliveron" thread if curious) so with a boost from the next set it could become pretty threatening.

Basically, with current options, Demon Heroes can't compete viably, but from the next set there will most likely be some powerful builds.

Re: So anyone else excited about Demon Heroes?

Err, you do know that Obliveron has some amazing options already out? Not to mention the set he comes out in will no doubt have cards it can use. The undercosted Demons. Thulthun and Apacanon(sp?) matched with some amazing abilities + any new traitor cards to come out shows a very promising hero.

Re: So anyone else excited about Demon Heroes?

what are the deckbuilding rules on these demon guys? and how come I haven't seen an article on this *unless of course I'm blind and I missed it*?

    From what I've seen its:

    use any traitor ability
    can't use horde or alliance
    can't use equipment

    Anything else?

Re: So anyone else excited about Demon Heroes?

Each Demon will have the deckbuilding rules on the back of the card.

So far we know 2 :

The Imp : anything that's fire, and that's it, his power is to be elusive, tho he has 8 life.
The Pit Lord : Traitor cards, demon cards, and he can have as many pets as he wants in play.

    ~

Best ranking at weekly draft : 4th (5 showed up and I got a bye :D)
Number of weekly drafts : 44 and counting.
0-4 drop at worlds (pairings suck)
Once won a game in DMF, my opponent didn't show up.

Re: So anyone else excited about Demon Heroes?

So since these Demon Heroes don't have flip effects, as it were, can you just start the game with them in their "Face Down" mode? Like, do you have to start with the side that has the big text box, or can you just start with the 'big art' side face up?

Personally, I'd love to start with the big art side face up (although to be precise, maybe you'd want to start the other way so that your opponent doesn't have your deckbuilding restrictions glaring them in the face, hmm?)

Anyway, these look ridiculously cool if not necessarily powerful. Can they use the no clas required abilities? Like, can Imp Lord Pinpirck use "Shattering Blow" or "Burn Away" in their decks?

    Thanks,

No, Obliveron and Pinprik can't use Burn Away or Shattering Blow.
