Welcome to the Official WoW TCG Forums! These pages are your best way to stay in contact with the WoW TCG community, and exchange information and opinions. In order to ensure an enjoyable experience for everyone, please follow the rules listed below. Any posts that break these rules will be deleted, and may result in banning.

I'm currently developing the adaptation of the game for PC and since modeling each miniature in 3D and place them all in game will make the game just too heavy I'm planning to make a simpler representation of it.

currently there are 2 options to choose from but if you have any other suggestion please let me know and I'll work on it.

Quick Lesson in Minis Repaints by Siggie

Pewter figurines have to be prime coated for every paint I know of to stick to them. I find priming unnecessary with WoWMinis plastic pre-painted miniatures.

My experience in Acrylics is uh...nonexistent. For tips about Acrylic paints, someone else will have to provide commentary.

For me, an average common takes an hour from start to finish, most rares twice that, and epics are a horse of a different color. My style is NOT at all, not even a LITTLE like the Master Series Painters you'll find doing ReaperMinis or Warhammer. Personally, I do not at all, not even a little bit, like the way they come out.

I use Citadel water-based paints with a supplement of 9 Ral Partha paints I use for many primary color base coats. Only recently did I learn about the Foundation series of paints for the Citadel line, and while they do not perform for me as advertised, their colors are spectacular.

Not included in the painting time for each mini, I sketch out each character in a pose or two, copied directly from the miniature. I then use color pencils to work out my color schemes and to use as a painting guide. World of Warcraft Miniatures often lets me skip this step because there are many sites that provide images of many of the most popular characters in the game.

With my guide nearby, I proceed to basecoat the figure.Citadel paints apply directly over the factory colors, and I almost never have issues with too much or too little coverage.

I then work through my color wheel, picking out the detail sections first. Those hard to reach crevices and the like. Getting them out of the way quickly means I can focus on the larger areas for better color depth.

From the Basecoat, I Ink to provide shading and highlight to provide..er, highlights. haha.
I typically do three stages of highlighting, blending up my base color in stages to brighten areas. natural lighting will make them shine or not, so I keep as much of the artificial highlighting to a minimum. This is the primary difference in styles between mine and other miniatures artists. I dont enjoy my pieces looking goofy.

For metallic colors, I basecoat before applying the metallic paints. This allows me to use less of them to get the desired effect and limits the degree of clumping or sludge on the mini. Those metallic paints are a monster to work it, and the basecoat of mustard yellow for gold and codex grey for silver helps to tremendously improve the look and shine of the metallic trim.

I tend to do faces just after the basecoat stage, unless I expect to do a lot of work around the face and head in the detail stage.

I like eyes that pop, so I dont put pupils in them, but I do rim the eyes in a very thin line of black eyelashes. I start with eggshell white eyes, drop in the color, and then shape the eye in black. I paint the flesh over that, keeping the thin line of black around the eyes. It's not always that easy, and it's not always hard. It always depends on the face.

I hope these basics have covered everything you need to know about painting a World of Warcraft Miniatures miniature.

While I do own about 30 different kinds of brushes, most of my work is done with a well-maintained Basecoat Brush that still has a good tip, and several Fine Detail Brushes of varying thinness. For some pieces, I use an old basecoat brush for drybrushing. I dont like the stiffness of the standard drybrushes and how they cover. Again, personal taste.

I know I haven't put much work in the WoWMinisDb website since it's release. Although I put every mini and ABC in there, the site pretty much stayed the same.

The upcoming months I will have a bit more spare time to tweak the site a bit, so it will be in top shape when the new set comes out.
Since this site exists more for your convience than for mine, I would like to ask you all to respond in this thread with your wishes regarding the site. I will collect the wishes and try to implement as many as possible.

I would also like to know what searchfields you would like. Now it just searches the name. But I was thinking of expanding the searchfilters...

So, give me your best ideas and help me to make this site the best it can be :)

We would all be forever grateful if you addressed the next set. Realm Championships all over the world had less than stellar turnouts and it is because there is absolutely no hype for this game from your company. We need a release date. We need at least a new spoiler or two. Something. Anything. Whet our appetites. Please. We're begging you. Jumpstart the community with _something_. Anything. Give us something to at least squash rumors. We're all trying to keep the game alive, but we need you to throw us a friggin' bone here.

Jealous of TCG but hopeful for minis.

First, I'm jealous that CR 4.yaddayaddasommat just released for World of Warcraft Trading Card Game. Additionally, a new Scourgewar FAQ was produced and released.

Second, I'm hopeful this finally frees Slowmail and others to resume work on World of Warcraft Miniatures documents, including, but not limited to, CR 1.06, OCR that includes Mortimer the Maligned, Jezbella, Spoils of War Crafting Cards, and some Policy Documents like Penalty Guide with at least a few more WoW Minis examples.

Third, I reserve the right to remain doubtful we'll see any of this before DMF Vegas, but if the game is going to survive into next year, perhaps soon after the first we'll see some or all of these updates.

word on the street from distributors is wow minis is done and will not see set 3. has anyone else heard anything about this and this information is new as of today so do not quote any older posts that seem to have been wrong with the new revelation.

Deluxe Edition: Missing Loot card

Each WoW Minis Deluxe Edition set should include one random loot card from the Drums of War expansion, however, we have discovered that this is not the case and that some sets do not contain a loot card.

If you did not receive a loot card in your Deluxe Edition set you can request a replacement through our Customer Service department. As proof of purchase when requesting your replacement you will need to send in page 41 of the Deluxe Ed. rulebook (you can just cut off the corner of the page that clearly shows that it is page 41, if that is your preference). Send the page, along with a note indicating the problem and your return mailing address to:

so i am kind of jumping back and forth between whether or not to repaint Varimathras

because he's a Dreadlord.. i really liked the look of Mal'Ganis due to his green colour over Varimathras' purple and am considering making him green.. but because he's an epic i'd almost rather just repaint him with the same sort of colours but make him more vibrant

just bought my first booster and was glad to get chen but then i noticed that the paintings on the figure kind of sucked? compared to the one in the site my chen looked inferior is this normal? or did i buy a fake one?
