Re: When does someone have priorty?

Hi, canedo.  It's me again.  ;-)

Remember that big post I made in that "Piccolo of the Flaming Fire" thread?  Pre-priority processing occurs before a player gets priority.  As such, it occurs before every window opens, but there is no "start of turn PPP" or "end of turn PPP".  Pre-priority processing occurs at the beginning of every priority window and often several times during each priority window.  I have a list of all the priority window's somewhere.  Let me see if I can find it...

edit: Here it is.  It was actually a little out-dated, so I modified it a bit to reflect the current Comprehensive Rules Document.

    Kyhotae:
    START PHASE
    READY STEP
    priority window
    DRAW STEP
    priority window

    ACTION PHASE
priority window (combat proposal can go on the chain if it is empty)

    ATTACK (exhaust attacker)
    priority window (attack window)
    protect point
    DEFEND
priority window (defend window - strike with weapon here only)
COMBAT RESOLUTION (combat damage is dealt)

    ACTION PHASE
    priority window

    END PHASE
    priority window
    WRAP-UP STEP

Before each time a player receives priority, pre-priority processing occurs and the game "cleans up" any loose ends.  It will destroy cards that do not belong on the field anymore and/or add any trigger effects to the chain.  Any time a priority window opens, the turn player receives priorty first.  The turn player can use a power or instant ability/ally.  Only during the Action Phase priority window of his/her turn can a player use an ability, invite an ally into his party, or propose a combat.  If the turn player does not wish to perform any of these actions, he passes priority and the next player is given the opportunity to perform an action.  If both players pass in succession on an empty chain, the phase ends and the game proceeds to the next phase.

Priority also works within the chain.  Each time a link is added to the chain, the player that added it receives priority to add another link.  After both players pass after a link has been added, the top link resolves and the turn player receives priority again.  Both players must pass priority before the next link will resolve.  This occurs after each link resolves.

There you go.  For all those "book" learners out there that couldn't find the Comprehensive Rules, that is a basic run-down of priority.  I think Trihan is working on the one for visual learners.  ;-)

    Hope this helps!
