Re: Fire Blast and Maxum Ironbrew

    Hi All,

Here are the cards in question:

    Maxum Ironbrew, Alliance, 4
    Ally — Dwarf Paladin, 2/4
When Maxum Ironbrew defends, he heals 2 damage from himself.

    Fire Blast, Mage, 1
    Instant Ability — Fire
Your hero deals 2 fire damage to target hero or ally.

    And here's how it works:

In each combat step, there are 2 priority "windows". The first is the "attacker window" between attacker attacking and defender defending. The second is the "defender window" between defender defending and combat conclusion.

(Even though it's not part of this question, note that the protecting decision is made between the attacker and defender windows, and does not use the chain.)

Maxum's power triggers as he defends and its effect goes on the chain as the defender window opens. All triggered effects use the chain.

You can also Fire Blast the attacker while the defender window is open because it's an instant.

Regardless of whether you Fire Blast in response to Maxum's effect, or after it resolves, the end result after both resolve is that the attacker gets destroyed and 2 damage gets healed from Maxum.

Because the attacker was destroyed before the combat concluded, Maxum will take no damage during the combat conclusion.

    Thanks,
    PR
