UDE ... The ball has dropped for Washington again!

In thinking that the upcoming regionals for Washington was this weekend (9/8), I thought I'd look it up and see if it was still listed as being at 1st Pick Games in Seattle.  My first surprise was that the next one was 9/15.  I'll just discount that as me being unable to read dates appropriately.  No big deal.

I click on 1st Pick Games on the UDE tournament listing ... and it takes me to the tournament detail page.  Okay, no problems here.  However, from learning about this by what happened for the FoO preview, I click on the CascadeGames link.  Look at all the upcoming the WoW tournaments, and look for Seattle.

The next tournament is apparently not until the 22nd!!!!!  While that's a couple weeks away, the regional event that was supposed to be on the 15th (and doesn't seem to be happening) is still listed on the UDE Regional Tournament page.  This, in addition to the other 1st Pick Games event (on 10/13), need to both be removed from the event page, and/or relocated and I hope that everyone will be told of the new venue before the night before.

With this post, I hope to accomplish two things ... get the listings for 1st Pick Games taken OFF of the regional event page ... and let those of you know who were planning on going to the event on the 15th, that it is apparently not happening ... or seemingly so at least.

Don't shoot the messenger; just FYI.

Well that really sucks that its being canceled.  Some of my friends are relying on these Regionals to try and Q for Worlds via rating or honor... With events being cancelled its starting to look unlikely that they will have much of a shot :(

Re: UDE ... The ball has dropped for Washington again!

I agree.  I have friends who are doing the same.  What is stupid is that even after the FoO Preview fiasco, CascadeGames hasn't gotten those regionals rescheduled nor has UDE taken off the two listings for 1st Pick Games.  CascadeGames takes it off their site, and thinks its good?

All information players would need for a venue is on UDE's Tournament Listing ... why would players look at CG?

    I hope this gets resolved.

Yeah I was trying to find out information about the regional this week also. Looks like the only real one is on the 22nd

    BUMP!

Nothing has changed with any status ... either on CascadeGame's website, or on UDE's site.

If you know people who are going, tell them not to waste their time.  I really hope that those who drive long distances to the events in Seattle, do not go this weekend.  There does not seem to be an event.

You have to be kidding me.

I was all ready to go, and decided to hop on to get any quick last minute tips (first organized event) and I read about this.

So there is NO regional qualifier on the 15th in Seattle?

Don't worry, it's only kinky the first time.

Yeah its crap, lines of communication really need to be better but if UDE can't even update standings once a month then I suppose we can't really expect accurate information on the tournaments either.

Dunno where the original poster pulled up this fact... but I emailed the contact listed for the event ( questions@cascadegames.com ) yesterday, and they replied today:

"The October event is still on, we are working on finding a location."

I would just go this weekend but I'm going to be out of town :(

Re: UDE ... The ball has dropped for Washington again!

Being the original poster, I did some investigation for the September 15th tournament and put two and two together and figured out that there was going to be no tournament.  Now that the 15th has come and gone, I'm glad to hear that CascadeGames is looking for another venue to hold the October one.  Hopefully, they find a place with enough room to support what could be a large event like this.

Well it sounds like you were right about the 15th & that's cool that you warned everyone... but it looks like Oct. is still possible so we shouldn't blast everyone's hopes just yet.

Re: UDE ... The ball has dropped for Washington again!

To update this, the head judge at the regionals this weekend stated that he had heard something about 1st Pick Games just recently opening and the regional on the 13th is possible.  Although he went on to state that they have yet to look into it but keep an eye on Cascade Games for updates.

Is there anyone in Seattle area that might be able to confirm this?

I'm sure it would be appreciated, Thanks.

Going to be in Renton (source) - I'd heard some noise that they were considering this, so good to hear it happened as far as I'm concerned.  Now if I could just be free Sundays to be there more often...

Wow, I thought the venue wouldn't be big enough. Its a fairly tiny shop.

So what you're saying is get there early?  When does the shop open and such?

Re: UDE ... The ball has dropped for Washington again!

Given that the last few regionals have been <30 people I'm not sure it's a big concern....
But I also heard that they were actually going to do things in the conference room of the hotel in the same parkinglot.  But the easiest way to find out would probably be calling them...their (infrequently updated) website is at http://shanesbigleaguesportscards.com/
