I think this says something diffrent, the rulebook explains that you have to exhaust your hero to attack, and then you add the ATK of the weapon you use, to the heros stand alone ATK.
Precicely. You exhuast to attack, not strike with a weapon. So if your hero is exhausted and defending, they can still strike with a weapon at the attacker (assuming it's not Elendril with his bow =P ).

Re: Official Rules FAQ (Heroes of Azeroth)

Hehe.. ye we dont like Elendril with ze bow...

But still this isn't a good enought anwser for me.

The rulebook still says "you strike with a weapon to add its ATK to your hero's ATK for the rest of the combat." Not to strike with the weapon alone

If it would then i think it should say something like this "Pay the strike cost of the weapon and deal the amont of damage the weapon does to target hero/ally, exhaust your weapon."

So what you say is, if you dont have to exhaust your hero to strike with a weapon you can strike and then protect another hero/ally in your party, if you have protector?

Re: Official Rules FAQ (Heroes of Azeroth)

You're forgetting, you can only strike with a weapon during the defend step. And no one actually said you don't add the ATK of the weapon to your hero, but you don't write it out every time; it's just what striking does.

What the FAQ is just saying is that when you strike with a weapon (to add its ATK to your hero during the defend step of combat) you only exhaust the weapon, not the hero.

Re: Official Rules FAQ (Heroes of Azeroth)

-Is there a Limit to the number of quests you can have face up in your resource row?

-Also can I exhaust one of my allies to attack the totem of one of my opposing allies in an attempt to destroy it?

Re: Official Rules FAQ (Heroes of Azeroth)

There is no limit to the number of face-up Quests you can have in your resource row.  The whole thing can be face-up quests if you can manage it.  ;-)

You exhaust to attack.  You can attack an opposing totem.  If you succeed in dealing at least 1 combat damage to the totem, it will be destroyed.

    Hope this helps!

    Putting cards in graveyard

As I understand it now (after reading the comprehensive rules and FAQ), there are 3 distinct ways that cards can be put in the graveyard: discard, interrupt, and destroy.

Discard: card is put from hand into graveyard
Interrupt: card is put from chain into graveyard
Destroy: card is put from play (not hand or chain) into graveyard

Is this accurate?  So if an ability requires that I discard, I must put a card from my hand into the graveyard.  If a power says it destroys an ability, ally, or item, then that ability, ally or item cannot be in the chain (and therefore can't be put into the graveyard until it has taken effect).

The rule book in the starter deck is not too helpful on this issue so I've been discarding from anywhere (my hand or in play) and destroying cards in the chain or in play so I wanted to check to make sure that I have it right now.

Re: Official Rules FAQ (Heroes of Azeroth)

    Got a question too,

few cards have "your hero can't be targeted this turn" is attacking with hero/ally count as targeting?

Re: Official Rules FAQ (Heroes of Azeroth)

No it isn't! A card will tell you exactly when it is targeting someone or something!

    Cheers

Re: Official Rules FAQ (Heroes of Azeroth)

This may be dealt with else where, but I am wondering what exactly can be used in the chain?  Can it be any thing (given that it's a card that can be played on your apponent's turn, like an instant) or does it have to relate to the action that started the chain?

For example, if some one cast a damage dealing spell on an ally in your party (starting a chain), could I use an instant ability to heal my hero, or maybe use a power of on of my allies to do damage to my opponents hero?  The action that started the chain was to do damage to my ally...  so what am I allowed to do in response once I get priority?

Re: Official Rules FAQ (Heroes of Azeroth)

You can perform any action you choose (assuming the timing is correct for it - for instance, you can't use activated powers if they haven't been in your party since the beginning of your most recent turn).  You can use payment powers, competion powers, activated powers, instant abilities, etc.  It does not matter what effect started the chain, you can add any effect to the chain that you wish to use at the time.

Activated powers, abilities, and combat are the only things that have restrictions on them.  I already gave you the restriction on activated powers.  Abilities and combat can only be used during your action phase when the chain is empty and you have priority.

    Hope this helps!

Just to add in that Striking with a weapon can only be done during the Defend step of combat.
