    One suggested solution:

TELL YOUR FAMILY TO COME! TELL YOUR FRIENDS TO COME! TELL YOUR GUILD MEMBERS TO COME!

C'mon people lets all do this together!

There was a deal about getting hotspots put into McDonalds. I've not tested this, but i heard that some Maccy-D's have them.

I tried to get my friends interested. One doesn't like WoW anyway and hates TCGs because of the cost involved, the other likes Vs System and has exclaimed that he sees no reason to buy another TCG that does basically what Vs does. And i don't have Guild Members =/

I suppose at the least if only a handful turn up we can mess around, play the game together and so on, so it won't be a wasted trip. Maybe "The Place For Games" will feel sorry for the three people sitting in the middle of a large venue, looking lost and alone, and give us extra promos and deck boxes ;P

I said it with Pokemon events, I'll say it again here. It doesn't work. No-one in your group of friends/family members wants to look geekier than you. I learned that the hard way. =P

Re: Upper Deck UK: Launch Event Locations confirmed!

    I miss pokemon. *sniff*

I can't even get my friends to play Pokemon. I bought a two-player starter a month ago (blue one with two pikachu-like things on the front) and no-one will touch it. The game mechanics are sound, it's a fast, easy to learn game (well it was back in the days) and damnit i find it fun. I try to convince my friends to try it and it's "OMFG POKEMON!". Guh. I might sharpie out the pictures and put stickers over the names, and call it "SlaughterMon" or something.

    Made my Saturday checklist.

Deck protectors (90 of them give or take)
    Travel Money (£1.20 bus, £4 train return, £4 taxi = £10 approx)
Entrance cost (£10 starter, possibly another £10 starter afterwards)
Sandwiches (preferably beef, onion and relish. Bwahahahaha!)
    Couple of bottles of water
    Change for coffee/tea etc
    DS (Partners in Time)
Book (Tom Holt - Snow White and the Seven Samurai)

Oh. And me. Can't forget that.

Gods, can't believe this is going to cost me around £30. I'm hoping if there's monthly tourneys, it's a little cheaper each month, that's most of my weekly money gone, just as i was saving for an MP3 player.

Just been looking through my old Pokemon collection. Brings back good old memorys...I'm sure Dragon-thingie was the rarest one, I had that in foil...

Re: Upper Deck UK: Launch Event Locations confirmed!

Charizard was originally very hard to get, and very well played. I managed to get one from trading away two foils for it, and then realised my burn-a-matic deck didn't need it. (if i remember, it's main/only attack involved removing energy from it to do a whole mass of damage, which is pointless when you've got Arcanine/Magmar and Charmeleon around for that. I should find my shiny folder out, i got all my magic/pokemon rares in there.

    Edit: Dragonite?

I could try to correct you with my amazing Pokemon knowledge and tell you that there are just under 400 Pokemon currently in English games, and just over 500 in the Japanese games.

But that would be boring. :D

EDIT: Muzzaro - yeah, that's the deal here as well. The only difference now is that I'm actually winning stuff, so I can come back by saying "yah, but i liek r001, lolz w007 etc". :D

Re: Upper Deck UK: Launch Event Locations confirmed!

If i could find a tourney local for Pokemon, i'd play. I'd be a little lost, seeing as the last time i was active, Fossil was out, and we was getting spoilers for Team Rocket (I even have some of the japanese cards for TR, in sleeves with their english translation on a bit of paper in there too), but hey it's about having fun, and i've yet to see many ccgs replicate the fun and ease-of-play of Pokemon.

Did they ever get a better card for card-drawing than Bill?

Hmmm I'm meant to be working on Saturday but at this stage I'm extremely tempted to ring in sick and pop along for the tourney...

Re: Upper Deck UK: Launch Event Locations confirmed!

@ Muzzaro, no, they didn't release a better draw card. =P Ended up being too broken. PM me if you want info on possible local tournaments - guessing your closest tourney scene may be in Birmingham - also quite an active one in Manchester if I remember correctly...

Back on topic, w007, first events tomorrow! No-one's able to scan some cards so I can get some deck ideas for Sunday? Like, uber-cool.

Re: Upper Deck UK: Launch Event Locations confirmed!

I'm all ready for tomorrow (Birmingham). Leaving the house at 9, grabbing the 9:30 train (gets me in around 9:50-10), and then walking over.

Doh. Ok i need to go print off a map/write down the walking instructions. Knew i forgot something.

For ID's sake, i'm the overweight guy with glasses on and bright pink shoelaces. Typical geek etc ;P
