I'm an avid loot card collector however after this most recent purchase I've contemplated not only stopping collection of all Upper Deck products but also filing of a grievance with the Better Business Bureau. Within the last week I had stopped at Walmart and found that the Dark Portal booster boxes had been marked down, so I decided as I haven't attained any loot cards from that set to buy them out. A total of 10 boxes and 40 separate booster packs. I just got around to opening them, a total of 280 booster packs and came to find that not a single pack contained a loot card. Now I understand they are intended to be rare but out of nearly 12 boxes worth statistically speaking there should be at LEAST one. Due to this incident I'm growing in disbelief that this set even contains any despite the boasts on the packs that it does. I've e-mailed Upper Deck (recieved an automated response) got placed on hold by the customer service line until after 5:00 when they close, and this is a last resort. Should UDE not respond to this action will be taken as I've spent large sums on the company both present and past.

I agree with ya there, the same question can be posed a different way QQ this "UDE UDE! I didn't get 4x of 'insert certain rare cards name here' in my booster box I demand action!"

Simply put, its 'random' for a reason, the cards themselves hold low value because all of the value is in the loot cards(generally anyways), mostly the mounts (and a select few others) which means, you guessed it, they are few and far between. If everyone could simple buy a box or two and get everything they wanted their would be no market for the cards and as a capitalist country businesses are run to make a 'profit' not 'give their products away.'

I bought a pack of Fires of Outland last week and didn't get a Spectral Tiger mount. i'd like to get in on this action! I'm thinking class action.

I have a great attorney that helped me out when I sued Mcdonalds for not giving me Boardwalk on my order of Fries this week.

And a little math for you, the average pack of Warcraft TCG costs around $2.50 to $3.50, now lets multiply that by 280, that's what? $700 to $980.

The simple fact is that the company generally should post odds on the carton or package that display the odds, now these odds are signifigantly lower than with any other set (being as I have quite a few they averaged 1 loot card per 60-70 booster packs) I've been collecting cards for years so why not let Upper Deck speak instead of padding your post counts.

Ok, let me break this down a little bit slower:

A) Upper Deck did not package your boxes maliciously to screw you at your local Wal Mart. Random loot is random.

B) Have you actually researched the insertion rate of loot in Dark Portal? Let me help you:

Based on this data, you will notice the odds were in your favor to get either a Bananas or a Picnic Basket loot card, although you didn't. Guess what? Random loot is random. For every story like you, there is a story about some kid coming into a shop and buying one pack and scoring a legendary loot. Do you know why? Yup, that's right, Random loot is random.

C) The odds are less than 1:280 that you will get the epic loot, and they are barely 1:280 for the rare loot. But in the end, there is not a guarantee that you will get a loot by buying 280 packs because... yup, Random loot is random.

D) Silencing myself before smack talking would result in silence and no smack talking at all. But saying that is only the second dumbest thing you've done today. The first? Assuming that Random loot... is not random.

E) Are you ready to meet my attorney? I still think we have a case!

Your insistence on the company printing insertion rates on their packaging is an interesting idea... except for the fact that I could (and use your imagination to join me) envision short sighted tools coming online and screaming when they bought the stated amount of packs and not obtaining a loot in their purchase and demanding recompense because they are not able to comprehend the meaning of luck.

I was giving the general price of packs, not what I paid. I paid $29 per box. I'm not stupid, however if it had been when they were the newest set that's what I would have spent without obtaining a single one. Either way I've still spent a fair sum with nothing to show.

If you were buying for loot, sadly, you made a rather large gamble that didn't pay off, and based on averages would not pay off.

Moreover, for that price, you could have purchased two copies of every loot card from that set and still had money left over.

If you were also buying for the cards (seeing as how you've been collecting for "years"), then hey, you ended up with something: cards.

If you had bought a case (12 boxes packed together) you had a higher chance of having at least a loot card.
Buying a bunch of boxes, that probably come from different cases, it's a sure way of not finding any loot card. And that's just what happened to you.
