    3D Maps

Do we have any word if they are planning on releasing 3D Maps?

has anyone tried playing wow minis on readily available/constructed 3D terrains like those from heroscape?

    Just curious. Thanks.

I hear the U-bases dont fit quite right on them, but if you keep track of health and ticks on paper, you can do it without  the U-bases.  There are pics of maps online if you google search it, Ive seen them before.  I like the idea too, Im always lookin for new ways to spice up the game.

I've seen such maps once a long time ago somewhere, but cannot recall where at.  Post some links if you find them again...

    Re: 3D Maps

if you use pen and paper then heroscape tiles are good, but if you start fielding multiples and require different coloured bases ... that will be a problem because the UDE bases are slightly wider than the heroscape tiles.

Another thing to consider is LOS and height issues; these are not accounted for in the rules and will require house rulings.

    Re: 3D Maps

I have been working on a idea for a ubase replacement. I have been thinking of a card with two counter wheels on opposite sides of the card. The character card would rest in the center while the wheels represent ticks and health.

Were you the one who presented exactly that device on these forums a few months ago? I couldn't even begin to think of a way for searching for that thread, but the idea you present is what someone had demonstrable pictures of.

    Cheers!

    Re: 3D Maps

Speaking of rigging a counter, has anyone tried breaking off a base, filing it smooth around the plug in part (so it won't pop back out), and just setting it in a U base on top of the card like Steelwing is talking about and keeping track of ticks and health that way? I'll have to give that a try. Maybe I'll have to keep a couple of legs attached to it to use as a little handle =)

Sometimes I use the U-bases, and sometimes I just set a U-base on the card and use the clicker for the clock, and a couple of dice (or 1 D10) set on top of the U-base to keep track of health.

    Re: 3D Maps

A dude named Mantic actually developed such counter.  I actually made a bunch of them.  If you search for Mantic or Mantic's Counter you can probably find the thread and maybe find the pdfs of the design.

Here are some pics of one of the ones I made from his design.  I made these way back in March I think.

    Re: 3D Maps

I did some digging back to try to find the files, Found the thread but the mediafire site didnt have the files anymore.

    Did however find this http://storage.wmw.cc/files/WoW-Minis-Counter.pdf

Im gonna print some of these out shortly, ive never had an issue with the bases but these are so much faster and convienant - less fiddly.
