Destruction Talent not doing too much destruction....

Does anyone else find it odd that the last couple of warlock destruction talents don't actually do any damage?!

Aftermath just exhausts stuff and Backlash is just card draw that suits affliction talent spec better like bloody ritual.

Really annoyed because its my favorite warlock talent and wanted something quite amazing. Don't get me wrong Backlash is quite awesome but doesn't match this spec.

Hoping the next one matches the flavor more...

Despite the rap Hunters get, I believe Warlock is the most under-developed class in the trading card game. Destruction doesn't have a lot of AOE stuff, and, like mage you need to combine one or two specs to get any sort of strategy. There are 14 cards in the destruction tree.

Aftermath is good in combination with cheap warlock abilities in the affliction tree. It really seems that the developers have made destruction a removal type of deck, and I am not sure how powerful it is on its own in developing decks.

Well least warlock is playable at the highest levels. The Felshroud went a long way to helping all specs.

I kind of like the new Destro spec card but only time will tell if it is solid or not.

What is odd about the class is how completely different it is from the MMO. Locks usually burn stuff down hard, dot things up or pet it up in the MMO.

There are no direct damage locks.

The dot deck is stilll lacking but it is as close as it has ever been to being good imo. In a 2 block format it would probably be an awsome deck.

Pets in general have lost allot of love the last year +. Though you have to admit that new lock pet is pretty sweet and will be pretty fun in the right metas.

I know allot of people do not want rotations but I would not mind to see allot of the old cards reprinted with more playable costs/effects like Felamor, all the hunter Aspects, World in Flames, mage burn in general and Shadowform because I think they were either not very playable in the first place or the game has just evolved past them.

For example I think the Destro card the OP probably would have liked to see would have been maybe Improved Shadowbolt.

Shadowbolts are just sick nasty when a Destro lock is throwing them around in the MMO.

perhaps this spec should focus on effects that trigger when you destroy/remove something? and for this, locks may need more removals. while banish to the nether & suspended curse are already serving this function, maybe cards that remove specific threats (i.e. only destroys abilities or equipment) but at instant speed/reduced cost.

and the talents can then provide effects like:

e.g. draw a card/place a resource when you destroy an ally
deal damage when you remove an opposing ability/equipment
destroy/turn face down opposing resource when you destroy an ally (something similar to shadow bolt)

I'm simply tossing ideas here :)

Re: Destruction Talent not doing too much destruction....

Well, when you look at what the talents do in the MMO, they kind of make sense in the TCG.
In the MMO Aftermath dazes the enemy, so exhausting it makes sense.  Backlash is a bit more of a stretch but can still somewhat be linked, backlash in the MMO has a chance when hit to make your spells cheaper.

Also, off the top of my head I'm pretty sure Destruction tree only has one AoE, which is already in the TCG:  Shadowfury.

Though the next Destruction talent I'd like to see would be Chaosbolt.

Re: Destruction Talent not doing too much destruction....

the next set of talents will most likely be the top tier talents from wrath of the lich king : starfall , berserk , wild growth for druid / Chimera shot , explosive shot and a Beast mastery only PET (hopefully something even better then dundee ) for hunters and so on ....

I just hope they make the starfall relevant ...
like 2 cost instant 1 AoE damage to all allies and exhaust all heroes and allies affected

If they make chaos bolt anything like it is in the MMO, it'd just be a really cheap cast, unpreventable, high damage DD nuke.

    like . . .

3 cost, 6 damage to target hero or ally, unpreventable, instant

Re: Destruction Talent not doing too much destruction....

6 damage for 3 cost is a little much
and I doubt they will make it unpreventable on a class that didn't have unpreventable before in the TCG

My guess is they will do a mechanic other than unpreventable to represent chaos bolts penetration.
I could see 3 mana for 5 damage non-instant with some kind of other minor effect thrown on. Even that seems quite good.
