TCG: Sealed Deck Building with Tristan Gall

    http://entertainment.upperdeck.com/wow/en/events/article.aspx?eid=50&aid=6185

The original article features a debate on what kind of a deck should Tristan build from his sealed card pool. According to the article, Tristan decided to go Horde and considered Warrior vs. Paladin as his class choice.

I wish to offer an alternative view on Tristan's deck building process. In my opinion, the fat allies are practically screaming "go alliance!" The "safe" hero choice would be Paladin (Justice Blindburn) because of King's Defender and Convert in the draft pool. However, I would like to intorduce a riskier, all-or-nothing kind of option for his deck: Alliance Shaman.

    Hero: Zorin of the Thunderhead

    Deck (30)

    Ally (15)

    1
Grudum, Trove Guardian 1/2 protector, Find treasure

    2
Vixton Pinchwhistle 0/3 [Arena] exhaust ->  Reveal the top three cards of your deck. Put a revealed Arena card into hand and the rest on the bottom of your deck.
Gladiator Lanthus 2/1 [Arena] Arena allies in party have: exhaust -> exhaust target ally

    3
Modric Sternbeard 2/3 Protector, Find Treasure, When Modric defends, he may heal all damage from target ally.
    Darok Steelstrike 4/2 find treasure
Gladiator Keward 2/3 [Arena] Arena allies in party are protectors
Huntress Xenia, 4/1 Insp pres, At the start of each opponent's turn, target ally is a protector this turn.

    4
Woodsie Leafsong 4/3 shadowmeld, When Woodsie deals combat damage to an opponent's defending hero, you may destroy target ability or equipment he controls.
Elder Tomas 3/4 Insp Pres, exhaust -> ready another target ally

    5
Elder Valdar of the Exodar 3/6 Ins Pres,  Protector
Virkaltor 5/4, 1 & destroy -> destroy target ability or equipment

    6
    Errzig Cogflicker, 5/6 Arcane resistance
Lairin the Grounded, 7/3 arcane res, nature res

    7
Vurkeran 2/9 protector , exhaust -> Ready all abilities and equipment you control.

    8
Gladiator Zophos 8/6 [Arena] when an arena ally in your party is dealt damage, that ally deals 3 holy damage back

    Equipment (5)
    4 Vengeful Gladiator's Cleaver
    4 Quickstrider Moccasins
    1 Arcanite Dragonling (protector)
    1 Netherbane
    3 Fists of Mukoa (armor)

    Abilities (4)
    7 Pandamonium!
    5 Recall From the Brink
2 Revival Stone (possibly play Essence of Mending MD instead of this card)
    1 Eagle Sight

    Location (1)
    Warsong Gulch (protectors)

    Quests (5)
    The Ring of Blood: Brokentoe
    Arena Grandmaster
    Scouring the Desert
Call to Arms: Eye of the Storm
    Soup for the Soul

    Relevant SB cards:
    Essence of Mending
Gladiator Magnus 3/3 [Arena] 1, Destroy an Arena ally in your party -> Turn target resource face down.
    Path of Cenarius
    Medallion of the Alliance
    Legendary Heroes

Deck strategy: stall with protectors, light armor, light hero attack damage and Lanthus until you get to play your finishers. Find treasure -allies and Vixton work as filters for the deck.

    Win conditions:
    1) Gladiator Zophos/Errzig/Lairin, synergy with Moccasins or Elder Tomas for accelerated damage and synergy with Recall from the brink/Revival Stone for longer damage.
    2) Vengeful Gladiator's Cleaver, creates huge late-game advantage by allowing you to trade small allies for big allies without taking hero damage by having to attack with hero. Also allows you to "stand still" efficiently by allowing you to boost the ally who is being attacked by opponent.
    3) Moccasins + Vurkeran creates a few infinite/near-infinite comboes. For example: Moccasins readies Vurkeran, Vurkeran readies Moccasins + Arcanite Dragonling, Dragonling attacks.
    4) Pandamonium! + protector. 'nuff said.
    5) Hero damage with Netherbane + Cleaver dual wield attacks.
    6) Scouring the Desert. If all else fails, there is a slim chance of decking your opponent with this quest.

I would have definitely gone Horde with that pool.
Zophos, Ezzrig, Virkaltor and Woodsie are tempting, but Kimble, Aknot and Cromarius along with Torgor and the big Boum Ferocity guys does it for me.
And I would have gone Warrior just to get some Cleaver action, even though I can see that Paladin was probably a better choice for Recall and Justice's flip.

I do like the Moccasins + Vurkeran combo though! lol

Props to darknesspwns for the sig

Re: TCG: Sealed Deck Building with Tristan Gall

a 2 card combo in sealed with 1 of each card ....

I can remember when someone tried to play a hammer of the naru against me and it somehow ended at the bottom of his deck in one game and faced a band of the inevitable the next one ...

depending on a card (or 2 card combo ) in limited is very risky
you never know when you loose it even to a horribly built deck

Mmmmm I wonder if Camberra is located near Canberra.....

I think that you Leonard have as much of a chance of having a sexual relationship with Penny as the Hubble telescope does of discovering at the center of every black hole is a little man with a flashlight searching for a circuit breaker.

    Longeye.

    Horde allies are good.

    Longeye flip is amazing.

    Hunter stuff not bad.

Other class stuff is good (Cuffs, Cleaver, Netherbane) but to pass on a killer flip with one good ally removal (quickdraw) and two trading cards (Turn the Blade) I would have to see 3-4 good class cards.

Hex, Pistol, Quickdraw and the flip are pretty good at slowing down the other deck when they go first.
