What cool mechanics do you want to see in WoW Minis?

Ive playtested the game using what info ive been able to garner from these forums, and I must say WoW minis has certainly got a sweet system happening - The system is elegant, fast playing, smooth, and exciting with room for improvisation with tactics, and most importantly for me, combat uses an opposed rolling system which to me is a MUST for any skirmish game - Mordheim killed me with its watered down WFB ruleset.

Now Im curious to see how new mechanics can work for certain systems that will enchance the game without bogging it down, what mechanics are you intersted in?

For me, its things like the following off the top of my head

Rogues and combo point finishing moves - there doesnt seem to be enough health on figures to rack up big combos though.

How Hots and Dots work - I play a druid so self explanatory, Lacerates, Rips and Lifeblooms ftw.

Raid and Dungeoncrawl games - I think these will be sellers, I dont expect the dungeon crawls to be overly complex, but somewhere between the level of Descent and Mageknight dungeons. Boss drops could even be things like gear cards which could alter your base stats.

and finally, More Action bar cards per figure - the current play only uses 2 cards per fig, but extra cards allowed give for more unpredictable play.

Re: What cool mechanics do you want to see in WoW Minis?

There doesn't seem to be as many areas to affect as the TCG, so thinking of new mechanics seems a bit more challenging...

You mentioned dungeon crawls, there is really a lot that can be done there and I am really looking forward to all of that, including maps/games that try to emulate the PvP battlegrounds.  The new battleground from WotLK seems like it would be particularly sweet for the minis (defending and attacking seperate objectives).

Interrupt abilites are something we have seen nothing of, but play a large part in the MMO.  You could assume they will be react abilites, but beyond that I think it will be interesting and they could potentially be game changers.

I don't think there will be more than 2 action cards per character because of timing.  It seem sthe average action will cost 2-3 ticks.  THat would mean that after using those there are 5 other ticks to do things.  1-2 is going to be moving into position and then you would use one more from your character card.  This just seems balanced to me.

However, I can certainly imagine item cards that cost honor to equip to your character.  I don't think anything like this will be out in the first set, but down the road I thnk it opens door as far as mechanics are concerned.

Not much meat from this post, but a bit of my mind to chew on.

seconded... come on R&D get on this.

Also, something to emulate the jump shot is totally needed.

Another mechanic they could mess with (but only slightly, it could quickly get overdone) is do something for every crit that is rolled, rather than just one crit per roll.

I could see that being used on specific ability cards.  Or maybe a power on the character card that does something whenever they crit, no mater what they were doing when they crit.

Mm interupts are a good one Teh Hunter, maybe something on the lines of

KICK - React: Cancels out an Actionbar card used by any adjacent enemy

I would like to see some builds and specs represented in WoW Minis by ability combos, MS warrior, Lockdown resto druid, Hemo rogue etc - Similar to how the TCG allows you to build upon specs.

Mm, another thing Id like would be scenarios, Stralthome is becoming a CoT instance in WoTLK I hear, where you go back with Arthas to purge the infected civilians - so alliance vs Scourge scenarios would be fun.

Defensive crits are a pretty obvious way of implementing abilities that do 'feedback' ala thorns.

Re: What cool mechanics do you want to see in WoW Minis?

Mmm "For fans of dueling, try playing a one-on-one battle in which each character has between four and seven Action Bar cards"

You'd never be able to use all abilities, but you'd be covered for a variety of situations - it would be interesting to see how well it matches up.

I want to see warlocks get nerfed.

Let's be honest though, that's never gonna happen.
