Hah, that'd be fun. Yes, I forgot to mention that all us proofreaders do is maintain style, which means, if everything is outside the quotes, we leave it. But, as per a typical rule, it's inside the quotes, and no, I was not instructed in any 'special case' quotation/period issues. If it's a firm or lawyer's style, then sure, leave it outside, because it's his 'mistake' to make, all I care about is consistancy. But if it were a 50/50 or an occasional thing, I'd flip it inside.
