the only reason it's up that high is because people are stupid enough to buy it at that price

it's a piece of plastic.. seems to me it's not worth anything close to that.. i still stand by my $25 mark of what he's truely worth as a figure

And your $25 mark is grossly wrong and undervalued. So what? If the world can suddenly create completely arbitrary prices for things on no basis of logic or knowledge of supply and demand whatsoever, I'm just going to start telling people I put their Spectral Tigers at my $40 mark. Let's see how far that gets me!

Re: Mortimer the Malign: how much will you pay for it?

meh.. go ahead.. pay $200 for a small piece of plastic.. you're only contributing to the cause and therefore keeping at that price

if they sell people will keep selling them at that price (or more).. but when they don't sell. the price drops.. and i don't think $25 for a rare mini is grossly undervalued.. considering the average rare goes for $5 (US).. i'd say $25 is a good price for a rare that is a little more scarse than the average rare... but they still aren't as rare as the epics are (though they are at this point in time until we see a couple more DMFs).. so tell me again why $200 is a fair price????.... sounds like a rip off to me

i refuse to pay for such a grossly overrated rip off

Are there seriously so few minis players than there are more of this figure than an epic?

Re: Mortimer the Malign: how much will you pay for it?

    1. Mortimer is presently better than any epic save probably Jaina.
    2. Supply and demand. Take an econ class. You don't want to pay $200, ok, no problem, don't. Other people in the market will. Your choice not to isn't offending anyone so I'm not sure why you're bitching about a $200 price tag on a figure you don't feel is that good. Yes, more will enter the market, but that has not happened yet, thus there is scarcity.
    3. If you'd like to play my trips Mortimer vs the party of your choice for money I'm totally in.

Re: Mortimer the Malign: how much will you pay for it?

i just checked over ebay and found mortimer being sold at US$149.95.

i find this really ridiculous. it is currently so hard for any of us to get hold at least one of him. i hope UDE would wise up a little. they should make their exclusive figures belonging to the playability range of a death watcher or just repaints like murloc shorestriker. this would therefore prevent them from making figures as powerful as mortimer and making players like me really upset. maybe they could even create figures that that can compete with the exclusive figures in the following expansions. if more exclusive 'mortimer' would be created, i'll just quit the game (which i really don't want to, since i already love it).

Re: Mortimer the Malign: how much will you pay for it?

It is being listed for buyout at that price.  The current bid price is 2/3 that.

Granted, after all this talk about 75 bucks in this thread, that's what Ian started his bid at.  At first I was surprised to see people bid on it, but then I realized some people might only have two and want to run triple morts at Boston.

    Anyways, bid what you want.

Re: Mortimer the Malign: how much will you pay for it?

Me and my $25.00 can wait. It's not worth what people will charge for it, minis are worth what people willingly pay for it. If the crazies with crazy income levels drive you out of the market, fly to a main event, pay $75.00 to get in three events, get your trips, win on Sunday with them and use the sale of the Spectral tiger to recoup your investment.   Oh...cant do that? Wait.

    Cheers!

Re: Mortimer the Malign: how much will you pay for it?

The fact of the matter is simple: DMF Amsterdam is the next European DMF, and that's not til SEPTEMBER. Europeans had their shot at DMF Italy, and yes, DMF Amsterdam will put more in the market, but until that DMF, they have no choice but to buy them online if they want to play him. Sure, DMF Boston may surge more into the market, but a) People actually WANT this guy. 100 were given out in Turin, and how many are on Ebay? Everyone that picks them up aren't just suddenly going to spring them up for sale. He's incredibly powerful and people like him. b) You're grossly underestimating the Mini's Playerbase by saying Epics are still "rarer." That's absolutely laughable. It's not even remotely comparable. Even calling this guy a Rare is silly. It's not in the same scale at all.

There are two types of people when it comes to these situations. The ones that know how to make money, and the ones that dont care. The ones that dont care will keep their Mortimers, and/or sell theirs to the ones that know how to make money. The ones that know will keep these to themselves, eat them up en masse and control the market, just like they (we) are doing now. There's nothing you can really do to stop it. Even if DMF Boston puts 100 or 200 more Mortimers into the market, at LEAST 60% of more of those are probably going to end up in collections, or in the hands of the people that know how to make Money. That 40%ish or less percent (which is being very generous) may be your only window of opportunity to get them at a slightly market down price, but even then... those periods wash over, and once they're gone the price will stabilize once again.

Basically, the end all point of this is, something selling for $150 today will not suddenly sell for $25 tomorrow. It will be a very, very, very long time before it does. One DMF will not impact the price nearly that much, so be prepared. Maybe six DMFs.

I am going to love the people that spent all that money to run 3 at Nats at GenCon.  That open board will get those locs ate alive.

If Mortimer is going for 200.00 then I really hate to think what Illidian or whatever the Chase figure is going to go for.

Well if it turns being like heroclix with flash kingdom come or thanos I guess it want be funny at all. till now all minis were available to everyone for not even a lot of money and that made the game playable from everyone.

It's comparing apples to oranges. Mortimer's price is a direct result of there being uber limited quantity and very few people even bothering to sell him. Illidan will have dozens of auctions up before the set is even released. His price will be directly related to the difficulty in opening him, and not the difficulty in aquiring him, two completely different scenarios entirely. People all over will be cracking cases and opening him at an even rate. My best guess is $120-150 initially (if expected rarity holds true) and stabilizing at $80-100 after a bit. This is, of course, not even taking into account his playability. God help us all if he's actually playable, and good.
