A funny story from a few months ago:

Player A kills Majordomo, Ragnaros appears submerged. Player B casts invisibility. Player C drops Canissa the Shadow on player D's turn, arcane torrenting the now-targetable Ragnaros. Player D drops Gift of the Wild and attacks the submerged, not-untargetable, powerless Ragnaros with Chief Apothecary Hildegard for the win. Most unlikely MC victory ever?

Pretty much you annihilated the following rule.

Wait, why is submerged Ragnaros now targetable? According to the rules, you may not take a bosses power away from him or flip him over. Although I admit Arcane Torrent is a brilliant stall tactic I need to put in my Paladin tank. Also, Apothecary Hildegards power is completely useless in raids- a boss may only be destroyed by fatal damage. Hildegard attempts to destroy a hero, not deal fatal damage.

Has anyone done a Raid with a Death Knight deck yet? I am just wondering if they offer any benifits or have any "power" cards that would help in a raid. I have Onyxia, Magtheridon's Lair and Molten Core and have played them with other decks. I am hopeing to get some friends together soon and make sure at least one of us is playing a Death Knight when we try a raid. Will probably start with Molten Core, since we think that is the easiest of the three that I have.

The diseases and blood boil do not interact favorably at all as far as killing bosses quickly or clearing trash efficiently. Mind freeze is a very expensive interrupt to keep ready although it is good. I'm sure death grip would be good, if a DK had any ability to tank whatsoever once it attracts the boss's attention.

I don't think Death Knights are quite ready for a large raid deck scene yet. They don't really excel n any one area, but if a couple of turns pass by, DPS. If they are going to strike with weapons they should use cheaper ones and buff them, which is why I like a Paladin or Shaman.

    Re: The Raid Deck Thread!

    Hey everyone,

I'm trying to prepare a team of 3 for the BT raids in DMF Boston. It's going to be me running an Alliance Fire Mage, another running Healing Druid (tranquillity and along with typhoons and cyclones). We have no clue what to take up for our third slot, we were thinking of just squeezing a standard Fizzlefreeze Myriam Deck.

I need some tips on my mage deck, it does decent until we hit Illidan, then I'm a loss to do any sort of lasting DPS damage

    Hero: Nicholas Merrick

    Allies
    4x Ol' Stonewall
    3x Madison Alters

    Abilities
    1x Frost Nova
    3x Dragon's Breath
    4x Fizzle
    4x Taste of Arcana
    4x Spell Suppression
    4x Fire Blast
    4x Blast Wave
    4x Engulfing Blaze
    4x Arcane Missles
    3x Magma Spike
    4x Heart Burn

    Quest/Locations
    4x Zapped Giants
    4x Orders from Lady Vashj
    4x Akama's Promise
    2x Hellfire Citadel

Why Tranquility for the druid, it does nothing against raid decks. (see rule 101.3b)

And inspire is broken verus raids, so abuse that to its fullest.

Tranquility heals the raid for 2X

I think you're thinking about Utopia, which no druid would run.

That rule does remind me that E'sad is a pretty good 1-drop for raid decks.

D'oh!. You're right. Weirdly enough, for some reason I was thinking along the lines of Magic's Tranquility. And frankly, I have absolutely no idea why.

    Re: The Raid Deck Thread!

I have sort of a general raid question but it pertains to deck construction so I figured this would be an appropriate place to ask:

For the DMF raid "flights" that are run, are the player's decks restricted to the relevant sets (AKA the ones they were "intended" for)? Or are you allowed to use anything that is legal?

Also is the raid boss deck the standard list out-of-the-box list?

I apologize for the simple questions but I hadn't seen anything that indicated either way on these and it serves a dual purpose for me: Obviously I am considering attending a future DMF and also I am curious as to how the "pros" run their raids. The ones I run with my friends are really tailored to our own tastes/skills as players.

    Thanks in advance!

    Re: The Raid Deck Thread!

For Boston they are running Black Temple against 3 man teams so most likely it is right out of the box. All cards legal for normal constructed should be legal for raiding.

    Re: The Raid Deck Thread!

With some research and reading of old threads, we've decided to change our strategy and possibly go Horde instead with Vorna, Bloodtusk and....some DPS deck. Apparently Eclipse makes short work of Illidan and Morik allows for 3-1 draw for the raid. Together with a recurring Arcane Torrent will ensure that raid boss with never be able to play anything. That's the theory anyway...

Anyone willing to share a good horde DPS deck? Or is that secret tech for a DMF? :P

    Re: The Raid Deck Thread!

As an avid MMO raider myself, raid decks are one of my favorite parts of the game.  That means that this is my new favorite thread!

I think our R&D Team has done an outstanding job ensuring all the bosses have powers in the TCG that very closely match what they do in the MMO.  I remember being struck by how accurate the representations were the first time I read through the Black Temple boss powers.

Along those lines, if you agree with that, wait until you see Naxxramas.  And not just their powers, but the artwork is pretty cool too.    :)

Ok, time to get back to work.  "No more play?"   ;)

    2415247:

    Common Raid Terminology

Mob- Like the mob movies of the 1940s, a mob is a group of bad guys that move around in a cluster and attack a player or players. It is good to get rid of mobs because, like the mobs of the 1940s, they hurt. When they are done attacking, they wonder back to their original patrol point (hehe).

I always thought the term "mob" was short for either "Monster or Beast" or "Mobile Object" and that the mobsters reference just happened to be a fortunate coincidence.  I could be wrong, though.
