No... use protecters! also healing your protecters can go a long way since the elusive guys all have low health.

Magic is one alternative. Protector is another. But so is just beating down *their* hero. If it gets into a race, you might win that since you're not paying resource costs on your allies toward being elusive. If he's attacking your allies instead, a few good combat tricks are all you need. Really, elusive is darn annoying, but it's hardly unbeatable for ANY deck.

Ally control decks, like both of mine, have no problems with allies at all.

AOE works well since most Elusive allys have very low health, the highest I have seen is 4, most are 1 - 2 health.

Suggestion would be flamestrike, rain of fire, multi shot, cleave, etc.

The plan of "Get the Hero" tends to work less well if Teep, Latro and Nightwind are smacking into you every turn, while their Hero is killing off your Allies with Abilities from his hand.

So far we've found the best way to beat an Elusive deck is to play a similar style- use your Ability cards to control the board, and use your Allies to swing for his Hero and those Allies you can hit- Parvink, Randipan etc.

Cards like Quick Strike (2 Melee damage for 3 cost) are ideal as Elusive characters tend to have low health, and Flame Wrath does an astounding job if you can play it. On top of that Vanquish gets the job done, though it's quite expensive as do Face Smash or Skewer, which are similar cost but Instant.

Currently Elusive Weenie Beatdown seems to be one of the strongest Archetypes at the moment.

If at first you don't succeed, Mulligan

I like when you have an opponent with a elusive filled deck sit at the table, and you pull out a magic driven character. You see them sweat a little ;)

Re: Best way to beat an elusive deck ?

most heros have some way aroudn it.

some ideas to help stop slow it down.
    Protectors
    Parvink
    Tristan Rapidstrike
Warden Tonarin Kills most elusive guys
    Guardian Steelhorn
    Sarmoth

    Pingers
    Taz'dingo
    Watcher Mal'wi
    Grimdron
    Lt. Commander Dudefella
Adept Breton (if he lives to turn 3)

    Ablity and equipment
Chain Lightning (a beating for that kind of deck.)
Earthbind Totem (can lock them up for a turn or 2)
    Frost Nova
Winter's Grasp (will slow them down)
Rain of Fire (mini frost nova if you keep in aroudn for just 1 turn)
    Multi-Shot
    Flame Wrath
    Skullflame Shield (expensive)
    Flamestrike(if you live this long)

The one thing to know is that if your deck can't beat this one you need ot work on it. ther eare going to be a lot of Elusive/Speed decks out there starting off.

Don't forget Searing Totem, which eats low health Allies alive, since it goes off on each player's turn.

Re: Best way to beat an elusive deck ?

My hunter deck uses only multi-shot and Kulan Earthguard only. I still haven't play tested it enough to become effective against most decks and have at least a fair chance of beating an elusive deck.

Pally deck with Vanquish, Elusive allies, and a decent amount of armor is a tough nut to crack esp as a hunter.  Against an Elusive deck, rush to your AoE resource range fast and try to put down as many beatdown on his hero early on for you not to lose the race. Keep the pressure on while rushing for AoE.
