yea, and I assume Yugioh or Naruto or something is taking up the Saturday slot, which is an off-day for many guilds.  Hopefully this card game becomes more popular and can take that slot.

Re: Bay Area Calendar - Regular WoW TCG Play

Its pretty tough to add WoW to a heavy day like Saturday, We have MTG, YuGiOh and D&D all running that day, not to mention we have an Internet Center with PC, XBOX 360 and Play Staion that gets heavy use that day.  We have space for over 50 people in the store, but try and schedule so that there is plenty of room for play and no one feels cramped.

Maybe in the future we will.

    Thanks again.

    Thanks for the update!

Yeah my guild also runs @ 5:00 PST =)  (if u need a guild join us! naxx guild lol)

Most gamers tend to be up late =P (that's why the late night games) and never up early.

and unfortunately can't move it to sunday as of the moment because of Magic / Yu-gi-oh on that day and adding WoW to it would be too much currently =)

Just guessing, probably not.  I'm assume a couple of the people who play wow tcg are raiders and that's primetime.

Re: Bay Area Calendar - Regular WoW TCG Play

Game Kastle in Santa Clara has been hosting WoW events for the past few weeks.  They're currently doing casual play and booster draft on Tuesday nights, and constructed on Sundays (skipped last weekend since a lot of the player base went to GenCon).  Their events should be on their website: www.gamekastle.com

I would like to see the events spread out among the week though, so I can attend events at other stores as well.

Re: Bay Area Calendar - Regular WoW TCG Play

I attended the Game Kastle booster draft tournament on Tuesday and was very disappointed with the turnout.  I don't know if it was because people don't want to play booster draft for WoW TCG or it was just because people just didn't show up I know that there were about 8 people playing WoW but only 6 played in the tournament.  Myself and a few others had doubts about even playing because of the low turnout.  First Place recieved 2 booster packs Second Place recieved 1 Booster Pack and Third Place Recieved 1 Booster Pack.  The tournament actually started an hour and a half late because the Tournament Organizer was waiting for more people to show (not confirmed people either).  As far as I am concerned Tuesdays are still up for grabs on the Bay Area Calendar.  I talked with some people who are regular WoW players about Game Kastle's Sunday Constructed Tournaments and they told me about 6-10 people showed up.

Tournament Organizers I suggest that you do three to four weeks of booster/starter draft related stuff and then if no one likes it start doing constructed during the week.  I will be at Who's on 1st in Dublin on Wed I believe about 13-15 people will be there for thier WoW event.

How is San Francisco doing for weekly tournaments? I want to start hearing some good things from there because I don't mind taking Bart to go

Well, Who's on First has you and one of the store employees advertising the Sunday Constructed, so that's probably why it's doing so well.  Other shops really haven't :/

Re: Bay Area Calendar - Regular WoW TCG Play

DonLogan - I think Santa Clara is just too far for people to travel to on a Tuesday unless they are already in that area.  I would suggest some kind of local advertisement if you can think of any.  And keep on playing every week.  It will build slowly.

As for the Tuesday play at Eudemonia, I was also a bit disappointed at a low turnout, but I had fun.

Re: Bay Area Calendar - Regular WoW TCG Play

True but we all know that the most concentrated WoW Game Shops will always be the ones most will be going to for Tournaments.  That is true marketing is one thing but at the same time the owner of Who's on First actually promotes it within his store and some people who play Magic also play WoW now as a result of it.  I just want to hear and report  things about the tournaments I go to that way people know what place is good and what place is so so when it comes to turnouts for playing competetive WoW TCG.

One of the other problems might be that people aren't actively looking at this forum for the calendar so they only go to local game shops which may have low turnouts.

The shops that will be successful with WoW TCG are the ones bringing people to come play, are friendly to new players, actually play the game, and promote it to attract new players.  WoW TCG to me has a broad future and since it is so closely related to Magic many Magic players I know have been able to pick up the game really quick but even new players who come in and play that besides a few of the tougher rule exceptions that aren't made evident in the rulebook they pick up the game really quick.

Re: Bay Area Calendar - Regular WoW TCG Play

Game Kastle's low turnout on Tuesday was our fault. :/

At least five of us felt really lazy that day and didn't go (myself, I have no real excuse, but others travel there from Gilroy and they have more of an excuse).  The fact that we had done an unofficial 8-man draft on Sunday didn't help as several of us are jobless at the moment and are trying to save a little money, as well as a slight burnout from so much WoW the past few weeks with GenCon and GK hosting many events.  It's not at all that we don't like draft; in fact it's one of our favorite formats right now.

All of us who weren't there keep in close contact (we're even starting a guild and sharing ventrilo now), and I'll make sure that we make next week's Tuesday draft.  We're definitely set to be there on Sunday for Constructed, and we'll probably be there as well on Saturday for casual play.

Ryan does an awesome job hosting the events at GK, so if you can, continue to come.  We welcome everyone who comes to play.  I hope to see a lot of you there on Sunday.
