This sounds like a challenge, persuade people you can in fact exaust spark each round.

Who would argue with a multiple DMF top8er and one of the elite minions of 2009? He MUST know the rules, so I'll allow him to exhaust spark.

haha, wow, I always thought spark was an ongoing ability. It's way worse than I ever thought then.

This seems like the new Rip&Flip. Inconsistent, but explosive when it works.

    Most 'Arena' builds are horrible.

This is a lot more "all in" than Rip n Flip. As usually if the combo doesn't go off, it just loses horribly. At least in RnF you have other threats (and the ability to re-use / cold cast etc).

Needless to say I love both decks =]

Re: The Gladiators - Rings and Things

After playing both decks (rip and flip intensly since jan with a variety of builds) I do agree as well that Rip and Flip is much more consistent if I dare say a combo deck is consistent lol. It is fun with the ring ive been testing out emek as well as bloodtusk with a combo of arena allies and ferocity guys does not seem to carry many answers tho and best way to protect the ring is blue suede shoes, but that means you waiting til much later in the game to pull off the combo so I would again lean towards Rip and Flip...but I am not endorsing Rip and Flip for this round of RC's it personally hasnt tested very well at all and I would say Im a great pilot of it every deck it seems is running at least one intertupt and thats all it takes sometimes.

Good luck building and let me know if anyone breaks the ring please

Heh, alot of cards "seem" good.  But combos are particularly prone to disruption.  That's why I try to stay away from combo decks personally, because you put the burden of deckbuilding on your opponent, and if they prepare for you, you lose.  If they don't then it's a blowout and you steamroll them.  But when it comes down to it a combo deck seems to take your skill more out of the equation and makes things a deck comparison.

Out of the 4 rings which 1 do most people want?

I have enough badges to get 1 for trade bait.

I just wonder how you make the ring playable in anything but a combo deck.  Just tossing it into a "normal" deck doesn't seem very productive because the opponent also gets all their allies back, and their allies get to act first since yours will all have summoning sickness the turn they come into play.  You need some kind of combo to either end the game immediately or make it so the opponent doesnt have any allies to return.  Undead Priest is the only class that can use this ring and also has decent graveyard control cards though, it looks like.  But then again, if you start including graveyard control cards to make the ring better, its getting dangerously close to becoming a combo deck right there. ::shrug::

I guess you could sideboard it in against solo decks.

The article leans towards setting up your combo and then comboing your opponent out, my response was mainly directing toward that.

If you're not going to play it in a combo deck then it's usefullness starts to drop off pretty sharply.  Like the shaman ability that can brings back shifting sands, that didn't get very far either and it's what?  Turn 5?  Granted it revolves around a totem and is more disruptable, it's still a combo deck.

If not a combo deck I could see you siding this in for a solo matchup, or maybe a BoK deck where all your allies are going to be vastly bigger than your opponent's.  But the longer you wait to play it the more susceptible you are to Cannibilize, Abyss Walker's Boots, Undercity, and after game 1 your "surprise" value is gone with it.  Maybe playing it game 1 and then siding it out, it just seems too situational to make the cut over a card that will be good all the time.
