Re: WoW TCG Match Recorder v0.7 for iPhone / iPod Touch

This looks very polished. I will download this the moment it's out. Are you going to use beta testers? I would love the chance to help and I have helped with other iPhone apps.

    Keep up the great work!

One suggestion I might make is to have a toggles auto save game notes feature. I could see myself forgetting to go in and save and regretting it later.

Looks very polished, indeed!  Well done.

What about a fatal damage indicator -- I realize it should be obvious if fatal damage was dealt, but maybe a vibration when that fatal packet is applied?  Unless the health total isn't "known".

Amazing... Only thing it's lacking now is a free iPhone/iPod touch to come with it! :)

Great work on the programme, but sadly I can see myself sticking to pen and paper for this =(

Unclear from el video, but I'd be somewhat interested on if hitting new game after a game ends (before returning to the menu) adds it to the current log or not.  I think it probably would be better if it did to keep a given match together (and maybe adding a summary at the top or something for total game wins), but I can see that becoming a bit more personal preference.

That's an interesting suggestion. I could set it up that way pretty easily, but you'd end up with really long histories and it would be pretty easy to accidentally scroll back into a previous game.

It'd be the equivalent of using pen & paper, but only using one really long column. That said, having an entire match saved in one file would be nice also. I'll have a think about it.

Also: In my testing, I didn't find very many cases where I felt I needed to display changes to a hero's "health" total. The screen is already pushing the limit on being too busy, and I'm not sure the feature is really necessary.

I guess maybe I could add a button in the "Options" box that lets you change the health and it would simply add a history entry something like, "Changed Total Health to X"

Anyone have any thoughts on that? Is it really necessary?

looks great but i have few questions:
    1. What if your lifepoints would increase/decrease? In the video you only puted damage but didnt change the lifepoints. LP increase/decrease would be awesome ^^
2.What if you change your hero to illidan? Changing hero to master hero option also would be cool.  :)

    @dyrikaas:

    #1. Read back one post.
#2. Changing to Illidan is a good suggestion.

    Awesome work in this app!

I'm using TCG Buddy at the moment but I can tell you right now that I'd change over to yours in a heart beat.

I'd love to see you do a replacement to MWS. You and UDE should definately work on that.

If UDE ever wants to do WTCGO, I could easily put the team together to build it. That'd definitely be a full-time gig though, as opposed to this which is spare time for me.

    Added to the main post:
    - 7/23: Added ability to change to Illidan (or any hero for that matter) mid-game, and it will show up in the history.

Thanks to dyrikaas for the suggestion!

Just had this thought: this app would be awesome for tournament reporters. I can imagine them sitting right next to players and punching in all the moves blow by blow.

If there was someway to upload/share the data for others to read...

...also to add the names of the players playing (assuming that the person with the iphone is a reporter, not a player).

Re: WoW TCG Match Recorder v0.7 for iPhone / iPod Touch

Tournament reporters generally have a laptop with them. Unless they're carrying around a bluetooth keyboard, I think the laptop wins in terms of the ability to type in large amounts of text (the kind of data you'd want for official coverage) quickly.

That said, I could see a spectator standing by a match keying in a report using this app as a supplement to the tournament coverage notes.

I've been meaning to get player name(s) in there somehow. I just need to decide where/when the best place is to input them.
