Re: Fields of Honor Preview - Axes and Armor

If Hatchet totem was Instant, it would solve all complains...
Ah nvm... not every shaman rare should be playable...
For example uncommon Spark is preety good for blue shaman with Ossus and Weldon (still cant touch instantness and uninteruptableness of Blessed Life or Redemption thanks to Concentration Aura)

But about set... I am really dissapointed.
Its for 7. Thats late game. Late game is match field of controls.

Axe shaman is supposed to be midrange deck what cannot allow you reach late game.
Because other control decks just wipe your field around 7-8 turn (Utopia, Bringer, Overkill etc).
This meta doesnt support "weapon control" deck. Well lets see in the future, but current hate pool is just too huge.
Also, I dont understand whole idea. For example, warrior one extremly boost your meele damage. Its not that good as classic Bojo, but still... but this thing doesnt allow you to strike once again, do more damage.

Ah nvm, Ill make deck around it anyway...
But after seeing sets like Rogue, Druid, Mage, Warlock or Priest have, I just ask: UDE why?

this one and Bladefist's Breadth is omfg awesome. Have a big weapon as your main hand, and then keep playing offhands and striking out.

If the armor had also readied the hero, not just the weapons, then we'd have something to talk about.  Either way, I'll still get 4 copies of this card.

All I know is that dualwield Gladiator Axe has a little DK icon on it. :D

Shh... don't go around telling them that the winner of the next big tourney is gonna be a blood spec-ed DK. Seriously, this card is gonna be awesome for Warriors, DK and Pallys, it's effect is pretty sweet, especially in Lionar Org.

Hatchet totem may be the card to make Enhancement more powerful.

The Armor Set just simply owns face, now it's a great time to build and try out a solo shaman strike-out deck!

Re: Fields of Honor Preview - Axes and Armor

Think of the Hatchet totem like this:

You have a weapon (vulnerable to equipment/weapon destruction)
You have a ability. (If it's gone, weapon is gone.)
You have an ally with 1 health. (If it's gone, weapon is gone.)

A super vulnerable weapon 2 cost 1 strike with a hefty 4 damage sounds fair to me... Not great but i wouldn't complain.

Means you can stop it with:

    - ally destruction
    - ability destruction
    - equipment destruction

Pally's can't use the axe. Pally's don't do dual wield.

    <scratches head>

Wait, Shamans are bad? I thought that honor was taken by Hunters, and even then there's some dispute...

I don't really see how UDE is "screwing over" Shamans...maybe you need to play other classes to compare power levels.

I can't believe how badly UDE is screwing over shaman.

"When Hatchet Totem leaves play, remove that Axe from the game."

They KNOW how the totem deck plays, and they decided to make this not work with it. They might as well have put "When you play this card the way you want to play it, don't".
There is no good reason to put that on the card.
"It would be too good to have the axe and Grounding out at the same time".
Yes! It would be good, imagine that! The core shaman mechanic (totems) actually working WELL together, unconscionable.

It's so frustrating having shaman be my class of choice. To anyone thinking I am just flaming, I'm not. I'll try the card, as I do with all the shaman cards, but I know its junk. They just keep on printing cards with something wrong with them, over costed, not instant, or some ridiculous caveat like Hatchet.

While I will not dispute the legitimacy (or lack thereof) of your complaint, I'm going to take a brief bit of offense at this presentation. Your argument seems to hinge on the problem being that you cannot just stick this card into the totem deck and suddenly have it work. Shock and amaze that new cards might well require you to reevaluate builds, decks and other cards and look for new things.

No, this card doesn't work in "The Totem Deck." Which, of course, is the only Shaman deck there is and ever has been, right?

Re: Fields of Honor Preview - Axes and Armor

Why wouldn't the totem be good in a totem deck? The deck didn't run weapons because it took up valuable deck space from totems. Now it won't. There aren't any good air totems outside of Grounding, so now you have another to make sure you can use Totemic Recovery to its maximum. And with Tidal Mastery as the finisher, you can still finish even if you don't draw Grounding all game. If you run Totemic Focus, Hatchet becomes pretty much the most efficient "weapon" in the game.

Re: Fields of Honor Preview - Axes and Armor

not to forget it gives more versatility to the totem deck that kept a lazy hero ready all the time ... now you can attack with him as well
and you can change the build a little and protect the hatchet totem with porto or endlessly resurect it with the draeny lady

there are more ways to kill this hatchet , but I do thing that killing other totems or allies will have priority unless they have mass ability removal
