I don't want to sound negative, but there had to have been a better way to promote this game than the way it worked at SD comic con.

Allowing every person to get 2 was okish to iffy... until you think about how the Hodoons are supposed to be used as a marketing tool. By letting everybody take double, UDE basically halved their effectiveness. To me, I think this negative far outweighed the bene of select few getting doubles to sell on ebay.

Worse--nobody stamped badges! I don't know how this slipped by. My friend got 12 of these. He just went with his and his gf's badge 3 of the 5 days (wed night) and got 12. Simple as that.

I'm still buying multiple cases. :-)

Would your friend be interested in parting ways with one of them? I'm looking to collect all the promo pieces and move forward from there.

    Interested also.

And I agree, they could have put more thought into how they distrubuted it - either way I was in no position to attend Comic Con :/

I had a friend who went to ComicCon and she picked me up one.

I have no problem with how they distributed them. They're promotional collector's items. They're meant to be hard to get. They're just for fun.

I wouldn't say I see it as a 'personal' problem. That is, I don't personally care. But, from the standpoint of wanting the game to do well, I care. I want this game to explode on the market. It's not altruistic. I'm going to play it; I want EVERYBODY to play it. :-)

When you have promotional product... it seems logical to assume it does best when you get it into the hands of the people you are trying to promote the game to.

For example... what if they had 1,000 and allowed everybody to buy 20. Would that be a problem? They might end up in only 50 people's hands. If 20 is a problem, isn't 12, isn't 2? It's all degree, no?

If I printed a hundred flyers, I'll post a 100 flyers in different places. I wouldn't post 50 and put the other 50 on top of the first.

I want this game to explode on the market!!! :-)

Same man, mainly for the reason that - the game sells well, so they continue to support it and keep it interesting. New releases like sets, raids, dungeons anything :)

Wizkids killed Mageknight Dungeons not too long after the release of 3D dungeons, massive build up to nothing.  Games-workshop turned Inquisitor over to Fanatic Press not too long after its release, which basically means dead. Thats two good games that had alot of promise, killed prematurely.

WoW Minis looks awesome and far superior to the above 2 mentioned, the game engine looks like alot of fun and very smooth, the figures look great, so I want to see lots of support for this game and a nice long future ahead.

Also, though im not sure how accurate this is, I read on Boardgame Geek forums a comment about Onyxia and comparison to other 'epic' gaming figures like Galactus, Great Cthulhu etc - the comment was that they hoped that UpperDeck didnt use a similar Con-Available-Only format as how Wizkids did.

A reply was on the lines that (Quote) "If we only make 100 of that big old girl after all the work it took, it would be an incredible waste of time."

Id love a confirmation about Onyxia's availability.

I'm not sure the way they distribute them at SDCC is wrong.

First, they bring a new batch each con they go to, so you get your coverage there.

About making them available as multiple copies for one, that makes sure they are mostly given/sold to those that care about them. Nothing worse than giving a promo to somebody who doesn't care and trow it to the garbage when he goes back home.

Giving multiple copies to those that care and know it's value, will make it available to buy on ebay, which will allow me to buy one (already done), which will allow me to bring it to my FLGS and show it around to my friends and other customers, which will focus more attention on WoW mini then just talking about how cool I think the game is.

If you ask me, nothing worse then what was done at WWI, where it was drowned in a lot of other good promo stuff and given to everyone, without giving background for it. Probably many of them ended in garbage, which is 1000 times worse than sold over ebay.
