    Expansion set characteristics

I know some sets have specific themes and aspects to them, such as BoG having Arena ally play, and loads of Demons in Illidan. Do all the sets have similar themes and aspects?

I'm just really wondering if there is a list of such things available, or if we could come up with one, because I sometimes find myself wondering which set I should build from to improve Shaman abilities, or Equipment, or Pets etc.

    Re: Expansion set characteristics

Some do some don't. Servants of the Betrayer for example had all the Traitor stuff. You should not limit yourself to a specific set when trying to find the best abilities for a particualr class. Some of the abilities from earlier sets are still awesome and some of the later sets have similar but better abilities than some of the early sets.

    Re: Expansion set characteristics

Block 1 - Heroes of Azeroth - this block concentrated on the release and introduced us to the game itself much like the MMO thats why we see a rush straight into Outlands

Heroes of Azeroth - Introduced  us to the world of Azeroth in card format
Through the Dark Portal - Brought us new race specific cards and helped us take that fateful leap into to portal
Fires of Outland - with this Expansion we must fight the Burning Crusade on their turf

Block 2 - Burning Crusade - this Block was all about Outlands and the Burning Crusade Expansion

March of the Legion - the Legion has started their assault and we must drive them back
Servants of the Betrayer - You have the choice to fight against Illidan and his mighty army, or join him and reap the rewards of a Betrayer
Hunt for Illidan - Illidan is weakened, now is the time to strike hunt him down in his mighty temple, kll the demons that protect him and bring it the ground

Block 3 - Drums of War - this block didn't worry so much about expansions as it did concentrate on a Battlegrounds and PVP theme instead of the PVE themes of before

Drums of War - can you hear it? the Drums of War are calling you to battle, In the greatest testament to Combat of all time, THE ARENA
Blood of Gladiator's - So you have made it to the arena. Can you fight along side the best of the best surely the Gladiators of Azeroth will test your might.
Fields of Honor - On your great field of battle you will find great honor and rewards if you win, but if you lose you will find only death and humiliation.

Block 4 - Wrath of the Lich King  - for the next year you will call Northrend your home there is no going back face the lich king, join his ranks, or die. you have been given your options

    November 2009 – Scourgewar Boosters
    April 2010 – Wrathgate Boosters

    July 2010 – Icecrown Boosters
