    My GenCon Experience

    was totally awesome!!

I want to thank the staff for all of their work in organizing such a great event, my fellow judges for both the TCG and Minis for being incredibly competent people, and the players for their many outstanding performances!

I hope to see everyone again at Worlds!

    Cheers!

Owner of my company kinda laughed and said 'yeah, October probably won't be a good time.'...... <sigh>  But since I'm leaving work right now, I'll come back and respond more later.  =)

    Re: My GenCon Experience

Gencon was an amazing event!  This was my first Gencon, first large tournament judge responsibilities, and I was pleasantly surprised with how everything was organized and handled by everyone involved!

Judges for both sides, TCG and Minis were awesome, professional, courteous, and did everything they could to ensure everyone had a great time.  Even when things went haywire with the Emergency Alarm Evacuation situation, everyone handled themselves professionally.  Speaking of, everyone from PES, UDE, and the judges handled that situations tremendously well, considering how chaotic it could have been.  To have everyone back into the UDE area and playing within an hour was a wonder!

It was a pleasure to meet everyone in person this week and I hope Worlds is just as fun!  I plan on being there of course as it's my hometown here, but hope to be judging again as well too!

I think the most interesting topic of discussion all week was "Why is Mortimer so OP?" Everyone was saying that it should be an action to use his teleport, not an instant, or that he should be higher honor or something... me personally, I can see his power, but I think it's the Demonology thing that pushes him into the "ZOMG" category, being as powerful as he is as a mini stand alone, but then getting to throw "Dirty Felguards" on the table as Matt Whaite called his is the thing that makes him so amazing to me.

Still, as OP as some think he is, Mike and Mike proved that Vashj is still capable of taking him down to get to the finals.

Oh, and Siggie... I will get that "eeee" on tape sooner or later :-)  Thanks for all your support and lead judging, it was great meeting you and the fellow judges in person and can't wait to reconnect at World's with everyone again!

Now... can I protect that AOE or what? (Most asked question of the tournament, hands down)

Had a blast at DMF, nice to put a face to the screen names.  Also amazed myself on how well I did, probably would not have been so if Steelwing and I didn't have to replay that match, but happy even though I didn't make it into the top 8 still finish 10th overall.  But if it wasn't for Mort I would have had a chance to make it,  He is now known to me as Mortamer the Sandbagger.

The Sandbagger, LOL!  No worries Bacon, although I did hear the rumor that the cause of the alarm was a "burnt pizza" so whoever that was better have a new career today :)

Both were great games and I'm glad you got a chance to move on, the DMF was a blast and Tinker is still bruised up a bit :)

    Re: My GenCon Experience

    My experience was great.

My only regrets are more on a personal basis as I didnt get a chance to see most of Gencon due to the fact that my day was spent playing WOW games (from about 8am-2am).

I loved playing with the minis bunch and even though I didn't win or hit the top 8, I know that my losses were to the best of the best that play this game. I had a good time playing minis, and learning from some of the top noth players. I was a little concerned that some of the top ranked players might have had some lousy attitudes, but I couldnt have been more wrong, as they all were very cool in my opinion.

/wave to Siggie for being a perfect judge through out the day. I was amazed that I made it through the day without a loss due to infraction :) and actually received no warnings at all.
