love the hatchet totem  ... a very nice card that trades 1 for 2

the dual wielding hatchet ... bit pricey ... I would prefer the axe of the legion for constructed ... but for limited it is a good choice

the armor ... don't know what to make of it
I was toyeing with an enhancement shamy before , but never got it right
maybe the hatchet totem and this could make it work ...
anyway ... one of the greatest artworks ever for the armor set
    love it

Enchancement shammies can easily beat most decks, just not Druids or a Mage.

Re: Fields of Honor Preview - Axes and Armor

I can't believe how badly UDE is screwing over shaman.

"When Hatchet Totem leaves play, remove that Axe from the game."

They KNOW how the totem deck plays, and they decided to make this not work with it. They might as well have put "When you play this card the way you want to play it, don't".
There is no good reason to put that on the card.
"It would be too good to have the axe and Grounding out at the same time".
Yes! It would be good, imagine that! The core shaman mechanic (totems) actually working WELL together, unconscionable.

It's so frustrating having shaman be my class of choice. To anyone thinking I am just flaming, I'm not. I'll try the card, as I do with all the shaman cards, but I know its junk. They just keep on printing cards with something wrong with them, over costed, not instant, or some ridiculous caveat like Hatchet.

Re: Fields of Honor Preview - Axes and Armor

I think the hatchet totem is supposed to be played with enhancement not with totems
and I presume they did it air totem on purpose ...

it is still a weapon for 2 cost ... deal with it
other classes can only dream to have something this powerful
hell ... it even takes myriam out turn 4 and leaves you a resource open to play something else too

    why complain about this ?

it's like I would start complaining : why can't my druid have cat form and moonkin form at the same time ? -_-  ...
the hatchet is really a cards that is good ... and someone complains about it ...

Obviously it would need to cost more if it wasn't attached to the Totem. A 2-cost 4/1 weapon with no drawback? Not going to happen I think.

Re: Fields of Honor Preview - Axes and Armor

if you use the shamanistic dual wield it is a 4 damage weapon for 2
and it is clearly a 2 for one ... your opponent must answer either the totem or the weapon ... and you get at least a kill or 4 damage to the hero out of it

imagine the posibilities with the enhance talents

Re: Fields of Honor Preview - Axes and Armor

Yes, UDE is screwing the Shaman class so much that the present World Champion played a Shaman deck.
Why don't you complain of the armour set and Vengeful Gladiator's Cleaver?
If you have both of them out and a mean to lower the strike cost, you can strike with the weapon with your hero and all your allies. That in most cases would mean finishing the opposing hero in one turn...
Yes, UDE is screwing Shamans pretty bad.

I'm not sure what to think about the hatchet totem...  My guess is it wont be played much.  If you just want a card for that one-shot 4 damage effect play Lightning Bolt, cause there is no way the totem is going to survive the opponents turn to give you multiple swings with it unless your deck is specifically designed around protecting totems.

The difference between this and Lightning Bolt is that the opponent must use a card to counter the totem. In both cases he is getting an (almost) guaranteed 4 damage, but if he is not using that 1 extra card against the totem (or the weapon itself) he will be getting more 4dmg.

Also what if he can't destroy the axe immediately? Then I would be dealing a lot more damage than with just 1 Lightning Bolt.

Basically they do the same, but the hatchet totem has more potential to do a lot more.

Re: Fields of Honor Preview - Axes and Armor

If the opponent can't interrupt Hatchet Totem and you have a Grounding Totem already in play, by the time he can attack and destroy Hatchet Totem, you could have dealt a good deal of damage.
I don't know if Hatchet Totem will be played a lot or not but, I think it fits well on a Totem deck (with Stoneclaw Totem or Primal Totem) and it gives the hero a weapon, which the most common Totem deck didn't have and it may come in handy in certain situations.

The only thing I win is honor...

Okay wait... someone tell me if this is right... The armor readies your weapons if it deals combat damage?!? So this makes your weapon like a "Twig of the World Tree" that let's you hit again in the same combat?!?

Sorry to all saying its good with grounding totem, the hatchet is a air totem :p. Much harder to protect now.

No, the combat damage is dealt at the end of the combat (when you strike with a weapon, you only add its ATK to your hero's ATK and as the combat resolves, your hero deals that much dmg). I'd say this is one of the worst armors made (talking about the pvp armor sets).
