    By Jeremy Blair

While I love the discard deck based on the Shadow Priest and a certain bearded Holy Priest from the Heroes of Azeroth set will always have a place in my heart, I have gained a brand new infatuation with the tricks and cards available to the Discipline Priest.

Re: Head of the Class: False Dichotomy

Well always fun to have your deck spoiled the week of the tourny.

Both the Alliance and Horde versions of this deck are very good!

Here in Austin we have been working on the Alliance version since before realms and when we saw Divine Spirit it was like Christmas in July!

The Horde version has less focused answers which allows for more consistant side decking, but testing had me thinking that it didn't draw enough cards.

Alliance versions have better card draw, better equipment and ability removal, and a card I'll just call "The Answer". It weakens when faced with some of the more janky or off beat control decks, and usually loses outside the metagame.

Thank you for the article Jeremy, hopefully we can compare notes at Nats. I have been frothing at the bit to talk about how much I love Disc Priest, but I have been in rehab trying to deal with a nasty case of "Bad Player".

What the heck is Counterattack doing in the Horde version? Is that a mistake?

    Cheers.

Re: Head of the Class: False Dichotomy

Nope, it turns out to be the right card. You get to use it about 1-2 times a game. Shadow comes back to hand and many of your other threats must die or you won't have to worry completing quests.

The refill is helpful and Counterattack is making a comeback. If you guys have better ideas, let the knowledge flow.

I also think I know who the answer might be, Talian Bladebender? Woot! I am so good. He keeps the pressure off but does not make the deck worth running out of Horde. There are just too many solid editions and ferocity is amazing.

Re: Head of the Class: False Dichotomy

    Naw it's a larger ally.

The decision was really based upon a couple of things, we found the Alliance version beat the Horde version heads up which is always good!

Also as much as I love being able to play seven cost abilities for free, Aldor has a new ally (Of which I believe you are a fan) which can come out of the side to really swing games against solo or hard control.

I'll PM you our decklist, no harm at this point really.

Stoneguard, huh? That will teach me to talk about my Ona/Talasite tech ever again. Why would he even be mentioned?

Re: Head of the Class: False Dichotomy

Stoneguard is so good right now. Protector and Ferocity are shut down. The synergy with Doshura, Bhenn Checks the Sky, Cyclone etc. I want a Holy Tauren Pally but for now I guess Druid control will have to do.

Anyway back on topic what does this deck do about Ishanah (assuming you don't have Faces {only 2 copies})? Control decks like the Druid deck  mentioned above have tested well for me versus ferocity based decks. What happens if the early damage isn't enough for faces to win late?

Re: Head of the Class: False Dichotomy

Both these deck are raped by desecrator rush ;/
the Brians deck has no way to deal with abilities and eq outside 2(!) BoDs... thats a poor metagame call imho.
Same goes to the Horde version. No maindeck hate against abil/eq...
Imho there should be 4 absorb magic and 4 eq hate (jon reaver or even a shattering blow) minimum in such decks.
Also Minions is such a bad quest. The only way to play this quest is playing it with Swift Discipline or Wanted Hogger...

    True.

You can't play priest without 4 dispel/absorb magic. My version was playing 4...

... It it was still loosing to desecrator LOL

Those absorbs are not so important if You dont have anything against Twig, thats the card that should be destroyed asap.
Desecrator is a monkey.deck and it can win even against his worst matchups (ie. balance druids). Thats quite sad.
The best discipline priest that our team has tested wasnt playing Divine Spirit at all but had 4 Scrappers 3 Absorbs (flip was acting for 4th absorb) and 4 bod's. Even with 10 SB cards it was hard against desecrator/mythen, which (unfortunatelly) have proven that theyre the deck to beat.
Mea Culpa, alliance deck had the flip against form xD still ,that sucks ;D

Re: Head of the Class: False Dichotomy

Glad someone remembered the flip. Anchorit'es flip is incredibly strong. Although I agree it's still not enough.

Also, running just Scrapper (and Bringer) as Eq hate often won't work. Scrapper costs too much to work 100%.

The Dark Knight is probably the best movie I've ever seen.
