Store Feature – CCGs Cards Comics and Games - Pittsburgh, PA

Upper Deck is proud to present a store in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania this week as our featured store. CCGs Cards Comics and Games has done an excellent job promoting the World of Warcraft TCG and other Upper Deck games in their store. Store owner John Parker goes out of his way to provide information to his customers about events and follows event guidelines to make sure he provides the best tournaments possible for his players.

CCGs Cards Comics and Games has hosted several Elite World of Warcraft events, such as the Spectral Safari for both the World of Warcraft Trading Card game and Miniature game, a Fields of Honor Sneak Preview, and a North American Continental Championship Qualifier.

When asked about his regular World of Warcraft events John Parker explained, “we have been privileged to be THE place to come in Pittsburgh for Battlegrounds since the start of the program in early 2007. We currently hold TCG Battlegrounds on Thursday nights beginning at 6:30 and Minis Battlegrounds on Wednesday nights at 6:30. Our player base is both competitive and friendly. We always welcome new additions.”

John Parker has had a consistent turn out for his events. Many successful stores accomplish this by hosting events on a regular basis and communicating event information to their players. One way John accomplishes this is by updating his players on Upper Deck’s forums. The thread he uses is here: Gaming in Pittsburgh? Lets get it going with this one!

This Pittsburgh store has also had its share of player successes. At DMF Indianapolis ’08, local player Josh Paris was able to secure a Top 8 finish, while 3 other local players were competing in Day 2 of the 2008 North America Continental Championship. Scott Watson has had Top 8 finishes at several Minis events, including Azshara’s Season 3 Realm Championships and DMF Charlotte. Until he moved recently, Aaron Vanderbeek used CCGs Cards Comics and Games as a base of operations.

Shown above: Custom table numbers. John goes out of his way to provide his players special and unique additions to their tournament experiences.

CCGs Cards Comics and Games carries a large supply of WoW TCG-branded merchandise, including playmats, deckboxes, sleeves, diceboxes, binders and portfolios. They carry singles from all sets - Heroes of Azeroth through Fields of Honor, commons through epics. They also carry packs for the WoW minis game, and are making plans with Upper Deck to help support the recently announced Marvel-based games, currently planned for release in 2010.

Located at 4020 Liberty Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15224, CCGs Cards Comics and Games is also on the web at www.ccgscards.com. Their business hours are Mon-Fri 2-9PM and Saturday Noon-8PM. For more information about this store, you can call them at (412) 621-3401.

As a CCG regular, I can say it's one great store.  If it wasn't for this store, WoW TCG would be dead in Pittsburgh.  No other store in the area really supports the game.  Which is a good thing, cause CCG knows how to treat it's players right and run a good store.  Thumbs up from me.

CCG's is an amazing store! As a regular battlegrounder, I can safely say it is more than just the premiere host of local Pittsburgh tournaments, but a great store that many people from across state lines travel to enjoy. Go John!
