1 Object of the Game
You are the Winx! You will work together as a team to defeat the Trix in a secret midnight battle, but you must be back to your bedrooms before sunrise! At the end of the game the Score card will tell you how well you did!

2 Set Up
  1. Each player should place a Sun Ring on the pinky finger of her left hand. This means it's midnight. When the Sun Rings move across all five fingers and come off - it's sunrise!
  2. Each player should have a Deck of 30 or more cards, with Winx cards of only one character. For instance, with the Starter Set, one player will play with all Bloom Winx cards and the other player will play with all Stella Winx cards.
  3. Each player should remove the one Starter Winx card from her Deck and put it in front of her. The Starter Winx cards have 6 on them.

3 Card Types

    Magix Cards

You can play these special cards ANYTIME - even when it's not your turn.

Magix cards often break the basic rules of the game!

4 On Your Turn...
(The Youngest Player Goes First.)
  1. Draw Cards
Always start your turn by drawing enough cards so that you have a total of six cards in your hand.
(See the Training Mat for what to do when you run out of cards in your deck.)
  2. Play Cards From your Hand
      * On your turn, you can do as many of these as you want:

      * Put Winx cards in front of you - but you can't have more than three Winx in front of you at any time.

      * Get your Winx cards ready for battle by matching Power cards to each edge.

      * Play Magix cards.

      * Loan Power cards to other players -there's no limit!
    Loaning
On your turn, the other players should tell you what they need, like "I need Courage from Flora!" When you loan a Power card, the borrower must first perform the POWER PLAY on that card - it could be a question, a challenge or a chance to get creative! Also, when you loan a Power card to another player, lay it down so the arrow at the bottom points at YOU - this will help you remember to get that card back.

Discard any number of cards in your hand that you don't want. (But wait to draw new cards until the beginning of your next turn!)

    Borrower does the POWER PLAY!
  3. You Battle The Trix
If YOU have any of YOUR Winx ready for batlle at the end of YOUR TURN, then they go to battle now. If not, your turn is over. First, add up the Battle Points at the bottom of all your Winx cards going to battle. These are your Total Battle Points. Then roll the Trix die and follow the directions below depending on what you roll:

    TIE
If the number on the Witches die is the same as your Total Battle Points then the battle continues. Keep rolling until you break the tie.

    THE WITCHES WIN!
If your Total Battle Points are less than the die-roll then the Witches win! Put losing Winx cards under the Cloud Tower card on the mat. They've been captured!

    YOU WIN!
If your Total Battle Points are more than the die-roll, you win! You get to add your Total Battle Points to the Score card - then put your Winx cards in your Discard Pile.

AT ANY TIME during the battle, ANY PLAYER may play Magix cards that affect the battle
Each time you roll the Sun Ring or the Key, this is what happens:
    RING

All players move their Sun Rings over one finger. Do this even if you roll a tie.

    KEY

All cards already in Cloud Tower escape and go back to their owners' Discard Piles. But cards that lost the current battle get captured!

Make sure to give any cards you borrowed to complete these Winx back to the players who loaned them to you. All used cards should go back into their owners' Discard Pile.

Now it's the next player's turn!

5 Ending The Game
When the Sun Rings move across all five fingers and come off the thumb, then it's sunrise and the battle is over.

    Check out your final score!

How did you do against the Trix?
If you scored more than 20 points, then you beat the Trix! If not, good luck in your next battle!
Playing With 3 to 5 Players

You can play Winx with up to 5 players! Make sure each player has room to spread out her cards. Since each player takes the role of a different Winx, some players will need to use Musa, Tecna, or Flora Winx cards. (You'll find them in Booster Packs!)

Remember, when you loan cards to other players, make sure the arrow points back at you - even if that means the card points sideways.
