$10,000 Championship in Indianapolis 2007
8/18/2007 |
Congratulations to John Hammond, $10K Indy 2007 Champion! The $10K's Bring Your Own Set format was a big hit with players—many loved getting the chance to play old favorites, while others found the opportunity to dust off hidden gems that wouldn’t otherwise have been viable. After a long day of Vs. System, John has won the first-ever Bring Your Own Set $10K. Checkmate decks dominated the event, both in number and in wins, but it was John’s build of Checkmate / Villains United that was able to climb to the top. With the help of Maxwell Lord, Black King—who prevented The Rock of Eternity from readying Huntress, Reluctant Queen—John was able to defeat Amir Bandeali’s Checkmate / JSA build on his way to a comeback victory after losing game 1.
