Gencon 09 - Thank you to all the Outstanding Minis Judges

I just got home a few hours ago from an outstanding weekend of judging. I wanted to take the time to applaud the outstanding job of all judges (especially the minis ones) for their work this past weekend. It definitely could not be done with out you guys.

I enjoyed meeting all the new faces (Yes even you Siggie), seeing all the ones I've met previsouly. I had a blast with all of the constant questions and "hypothetical" situations posed to our valient head judge and leader for Conts Simon Key and others.

Kudus to you guys and I look forward to working with you all again (hopefully at worlds ;)

100% agreed!  Worlds, here we come!

I'd like to thank UDE as well, as it was an amazingly well run machine the entire time, even with the "fire drill". :-)

Simon, Siggie, Dylan, all the head and lead judges, and all of us in the crews, it was a pleasure seeing you again/meeting you for the first time, and hope to work with you again soon!

Re: Gencon 09 - Thank you to all the Outstanding Minis Judges

GenCon every year is an adventure and a pleasure (ignoring the desire to chop off my aching feet for the moment).  This year was no different and, even with the fire alarm and confusion resulting from that, I had a wonderful time.

To the head judges Simon, Edwin and Erik, thanks for letting me spend time with you (and next time, let me know I need to bring a red shirt as well :-)

To Mike Guptil and all of the PES Side Events staff, you're probably tired of hearing me say thank you, but thank you again for all the help with running events, especially the DMF Minis event. The times the Minis DMF ran smoothly was because of their assistance and I am truly grateful.

To the UDE staff, thank you again for allowing me the opportunity to work with you to let players participate in the best tournaments at the best four days of gaming.  You guys are true professionals and do so much we can't see to make all of the WoW events run smoothly both before and during the convention.  Even though I don't see all the work, I do recognize it and appreciate it.  Also, as a side note, whoever came up with the GenCon League idea, that's brilliant . . . I don't think I saw a single unhappy player over there and it was a great place to send people after a beginner's tournament so they could continue playing the game they just started and have some fun doing it.

To all the judges I worked with, you guys are awesome. There were a lot of new faces side by side with the familiar faces.  Everyone stepped up, gave what they had and left it on the field. . . or in the play area. . . or, whatever is appropriate for this mixed sports metaphor.  And, please note, I make no distinction between UDE sponsored judges and PES sponsored judges. . . I was my honor to work with you this weekend and I will always look forward to the next time.

I'm looking forward to GenCon 2010! . . . and I'm pretty sure that's not the sleep deprivation talking ;-)

GenCon was a blast. It was incredibly tiring, but one of the most fun times I've had judging so far. Table judging Top 8 for the first time was awesome. Thanks to all my fellow judges for doing a great job and helping me figure out rulings. Hope to see you all at future events!

I'll be nice and keep this to the Judge Forum... :-)  The following videographic evidence is by no means an acceptable form of said "EE!!" this injustice shall be rectified at Worlds :-)

PS - I love the Time Management Level 0 on Dylan's sig, that rules and I think I have that same ranking!

Heh, Siggie's squeal was definitely one of the funniest moments of GenCon. I can only imagine his reaction when he finally opens up his mail and finds the chicken mount.

Hmm, I will have to try and provoke this legendary Siggie squeal.  By the way, many of the players have a judge rating ;).  Also, as I stated elsewhere, the judging was great, so thanks to all who did it.
