Just how important is 3 def on a minor...?

    Hey all,

I've noticed (both from my own games and from viewing other people's lists) that x/3 minors seem to be far more popular than their more damaging but lower defense counterparts, even in cases where the low defense heroes have some good abilities. For example, I tend to prefer the 3/3 vanilla suit over 3/2 redcap with dash. It seems to me that they trade better against other minors.

Obviously, I still run a few lighter guys because of their abilities - for example, I always run a scarabese with anubian and I'm partial to running a crashion or two. That said, in my evil deck, the core is going to be Bales (still need a third!), Dark Pharoah (yeah, some people hate him, I think he's epic) and Suit.

Do other people lean towards the tougher minors, or go for abilities or attack? I am well aware that if people always choose 3/3 heroes, there is little advantage in running 3 defense yourself and you can get a good advantage by choosing 3/x with good abilities.

Personally, I run 3 dash redcaps and a promo redcap. I'd run the extra promo redcaps if i had them. The work so well in so many combos. That being said I also run 2 bales, and would run a third if i had it. He is just awesome, and I haven't seen many evil players who have him and aren't running him (unless they're running all sandsnakes).
