Vs also did single game matches, from what I know. So Huntik is not alone is this. I would wait and see how some tournaments go before we judge how well the single game match goes. If it doesn't work well, then I'm sure UD has no problem making it a best 2 out of 3 match. Although this does mean I need to rememorize the break points for number of rounds...

You can argue that in any given set of odd number of games to determine the outcome of a match, the person winning the die roll will have a higher chance to win. For example:
best 2 out of 3:
You win die roll. You go first/choose mission (whatever gives the dice roll winner the edge in the game). You win.
I go first. I win.
You Go first. You win.
The crux of this problem is to measure how much of an edge the die roll actually gives. We've done this with the WoW TCG game in the past (by collecting data from multiple tournaments). I don't recall the exact numbers, but winning the die roll in that game, for example carried a much smaller edge then players perceived.
This game is of course different, but I can certainly speak with the members of R&D about doing the same analysis to determine how much of an edge the die roll gives.

1760088: That means that typically whoever wins the dice roll (in option 1 and 3 for selecting missions) has the higher chance to win.
You are basing your opinion on the presumption that whoever wins the die roll will have a higher chance to win, but that presumption isn't necessarily true. The game has only been out for a couple of weeks.

I suppose i should post my entire basis for why i asked this.
in a game like vs, wow, yugioh, magic, ect.... each deck is based arround itself. basically to have synergy for itself as well as to best compliment what idea you came up with. this is true for almost all card games, or games in general if you broaden the scope.
however huntik has a unique feature, and that is how to win the game. Huntik as you know is based off of missions, with each mission comes a different goal to win the game. (at this point i must add that this is why i am picking this game up, it means that the idea of a META deck is out. there wont be a single deck to domanitate all as the game developes) now this is the whole basis of the issue of the single round match. in huntik you dont just build a deck to revolve arround itself, you must also have atleast 3 missions in mind. the reason for this is because not only can you bring three missions with you, but it will also help your deck should the to descide to announce the mission as a supprise. now there is a way to make the game more like the above mentioned games and that is the thrid way a mission may be decided at an event....but i wont go into that.
by my experiance, and as there are not many cards as of yet, the main mission types seem to be based on movement, moving an object, combat, or the sheer number of heros you can play. now it may sound simple to build a deck arround all different types...but when it comes to practice....it desnt do so well...this leads to the main issue. as of right now, you must build your deck with two missions in mind. those two would be the most common in your area and two of same ones you have yourself. now here is the real problem, when you build your deck lets say around two movment based missions...such as the ghostly shaft, or the hidden cave, you end up with a large weakness when it comes to certain other types of missions, such as the golden idol and the bulls missions. (this is just a rough example i realize each deck will be different and thus have different weaknesses) should your opponent bring those missions and base their deck arround them, they also end up with a deck which is strong in both combat, and sheer numbers....making for a tough match up.
when the dice is tossed and the mission selected, what will happen is that whoever wins will most likely choose to be the lead player and thus choose one of the missions they have built their deck arround. sure the defending player may get to go first an extra round...but in all reality that doesnt account for to much, (especially since movment based decks are god decks and thus have take the inciative, and thus want there to be more turns they dont go first, so the card is more powerful),
what i have seen happen even in a best of three at the same mission, that if its a bad match up mission wise....it doesnt matter if you go first or second.....
now i have thought up a solution to this possible problem.
in the case where the mission is selected and anounced ahead of time, nothing needs to change, a best of one is fine.
in the case where the mission is selected at the event by the TO, both decks are on equal footing so long as each round in the tourniment, the missions change. (thus being fair to all players regardless of their builds). each mission is of course selected at random by the to, and they supply all features and obsticles to be used.
in the case where each player brings three missions and each are selected, i believe that a best of three with a side deck would be best. not only that, but each game in teh round will be selected at random, for example round one player a wins the roll, and wins the game. the start f the secodn game, they roll again, ect...
thats just my thoughts....and i believe it would be best for the TO to announce what type of event each tourniment will be ahead of time, same for any higher level regional/national/ect... tourniments. this way all players can be prepaired.
