Re: Important Announcement: Forbidden & Limited List Changes
Has anyone looked at the results of Nashville? Out of the 16 decks, 14 were DAD Return.
In other words: Sorry, UDE, it didn't work.
But it doesn't matter since LODT will be out any day and we'll all be wanting Judgment Dragon and Gyzarus limited or banned and noone will care about the new changes.
The cake is a lie!

Re: Important Announcement: Forbidden & Limited List Changes
if im not wrong the traditional format is just a copy of the advanced format with the banned cards all shifted into limited right?im actually thinking they shd make traditional,as its called, the original limitations on any card when it 1st came,eg pot of greed 1,magician of faith 3,etc

the limited list in traditional is indeed the banned and limited lists in the advanced combined the new list did not stop DAD decks, but it did stop all those ftks/otks

Keep in mind that FTK only made 1 Day 2 showing at Minneapolis, the last Shonen before the changes, and it was eliminated in the Top 8. I've playtested the deck myself and found that it draws really dead, with too many draw cards and not enough fuel for them or the other way around. Remember, one of the two players playing Priestess FTK at Columbus lost 1 round in the Swiss and the other lost 2. The deck isn't undefeatable; in fact, far from it.
The cake is a lie!

2074663:"Why did monarchs make it back to the Top 16?"
i think the more relevant question would be, "Why did more DAD decks made day 2 at Nashville than at the last Shonen Jump Championship?"

Re: Important Announcement: Forbidden & Limited List Changes
2074663:The reason so many DAD decks made Top 16 is because people did not try other decks as much as people thought they were going to. For decks to make an impact there normally needs to be more then 1 of them at the event so that luck factor is more on the decks side.
Well, they apparently didn't need to, because they did well anyways. Keep in mind that there were only 2 Gladiator Beast decks at Minneapolis, or at least only 2 that were any good.

Punctuation = Good. And yeah, that's pretty much the same idea I was trying to get across. But, also, Gladiator Beast Gyzarus, especially when used in combination with Elemental Hero Prisma, is one of the best cards ever printed, in my opinion. From Metagame.com: "Elemental Hero
Prisma is going to see a lot of play in Gladiator Beast decks in the
near future, creating a play sequence which is absolutely overwhelming.
While this play sequence won’t deplete your opponent of all his or her
life points, its power wields almost complete control over any deck
(especially Dark Armed Return). On turn 1, set a Gladiator Beast. On
turn 2, summon Elemental Hero Prisma, sending a copy of Gladiator Beast Bestiari to the graveyard (making Elemental Hero Prisma’s name Gladiator Beast Bestiari,
and an operable piece of summoning Gyzarus). You can then special
summon Gladiator Beast Gyzarus, destroy two of your opponent’s cards,
and attack directly for 2400 damage!
At the end of the battle phase, you use Gyzarus’ effect to trade it for Gladiator Beast Darius and Gladiator Beast Laquari,
which allows you to special summon the Bestiari you sent to the
graveyard with Prisma’s effect. Now, you have the necessary components
to special summon Gladiator Beast Heraklinos
from your Fusion deck, and have the ability to stop any spell or trap
card your opponent plays! At the end of this turn you have five cards
in hand, Gladiator Beast Heraklinos on the field, and have already dealt 2400 damage.
While
this seems like a rather large extension of cards to commit to a
combination attack, the chances of doing so are fairly strong.
Elemental Hero Prisma is searchable from your deck with Reinforcement of the Army or E - Emergency Call,
and drawing a Gladiator Beast is a fairly simple thing to do. Those are
the only two cards you need in your opening hand to make this powerful
combo work. The Gladiator Beast deck doesn’t even have to change much
to bend to the application of Gyzarus." Broken, anyone?
The cake is a lie!
