Non Believers... Boots of Utter Darkness

Simon, or Siggie, or someone with a level 2 or above please jump in here so I can show someone in my BG this is fact.

Boots of Utter Darkness do NOT grant a mini stealth.  They only allow a mini who has Stealth as an ability, to become stealthed, even if they begin their turn adjacent to one opposing mini or less.

Someone is apparently believing that it grants them stealth, even if the mini doesn't have the ability already and I'm ruling it does not grant them stealth.

    Hello Steelwing,

Boots of Utter Darkness does not grant a mini Stealth.

If you have the Comprehensive Rules available, I would show your player the following section:
World of Warcraft® Miniatures Game Comprehensive Rules version 1.05:

708.4    Stealth is a triggered ability that creates an ongoing effect as it resolves:
At the start of this character’s turn, if it has no adjacent enemies, it is stealthed while it has this ability and doesn’t move more than 1 space this turn.
708.4a    While a character is “stealthed,” it has physical power +1, and its enemies can’t play react abilities. During its turn, a character is stealthed as long as:
    •    It has stealth.
    •    At the start of this turn, it had stealth and there were no enemies adjacent to it.
    •    It hasn’t moved more than 1 space this turn.

A character needs stealth in order 'to become stealthed.' In addition to the above requirements, Boots of Utter Darkness allow a character 'become stealthed' if it started its turn adjacent to exactly 1 enemy character.

Good call Ry, didn't think to use the keyword definition in the CR, thanks!  I was looking for the OCR but the Boots aren't on it yet.  Appreciate it!
