Unable to install mantis correctly/ Run it correctly

    Hi guys,

I've tried to install Mantis on my pc in order to run some tournaments with our local TO but encountered a problem while installation.

I got a laptop with vista and a pc with windows xp on it - I couldn't figure how to install Mantis correctly on either of them.

I tried the most recent versions back untill suddenly no. 3027 worked fine while installation...

but then there was another problem! While I was able to install the version 3027 I couldn't run the programm afterwards. It gave me an error statement (freely translated from german) " The programm caused an inexplicable problem while running and had to be shut down. Please make sure that all components have been installed correctly and try again!" I tried again and again and... but it wouldn't work.

The other versions all had the same error messages whil installation (also freely translated from german)
"The installer package couldn't be opened. Make sure that the package exists and that you have full access to it. Or let the person who released the programm check if it's a valid windows installer package...!"

    Please help!

    Do you have .NET installed?

As for the installer package problem, it sounds like the package might be corrupted.  This can happen during download.  Try downloading it again to see if the same error comes up.

Are you an administrator on the machine you are installing on?  Is UAC turned on on the Vista machine?

Re: Unable to install mantis correctly/ Run it correctly

I'm not really sure whether or not I have .NET installed due to the fact that I don't exactly know what .NET is ^^ But I can't remember myself deleting any file of that kind....

I've already downloaded the file like 10 times... (always waited 10 min. to download the full installer -,-)

I'm the admin on my computer yep. And what the ... is UAC?^^ sry i'm kind a noob concerning computer stuff :D

    Thx for your help dude^^

Re: Unable to install mantis correctly/ Run it correctly

I would recommend completing the following steps.

    1.  Uninstall MANTIS from all machines you have currently installed it on.
    2.  Follow the link in this thread that tells you where to download .Net 1.1.
    3.  Install .Net 1.1.
    4.  Install MANTIS again.  You should need to download the installer again.

    Everything should work correctly.
