Running Tournaments with Lv 0 RK Judges - Allowed or Not?

So I recently completed my tests for Player management, Tournament Organizer and WoW Judge. I'm looking forward to running some tournaments and also the new WoW Minis game.

So my question is about other games. As a TO do I need to have a judge signed up to officially sanction a tournament or can I scheduele them without judges there.

I want to run Yu Gi Oh at the store I'm at but no one I know is interested in Judging.

So then my next question is are there any judges in Edmonton, Alberta that would be interested in doing it one day a month? Usualy would be Saturday.

    Re: Organizer Question

To sanction a tournament, you would need a judge on hand.  I'm not sure if you can sanction them with a L0 judge as the head judge, but it probably isn't the best idea as it will lead to a lot of incorrect rulings.

As for a judge, I believe a user on these forums by the name of kalanijasmine is from Alberta.  You can send a private message to see what part...

    Re: Organizer Question

Thanks for the info. After I posted I did a little research and found that the other stores in my area have the same organizer and judge name listed for tournaments. I'm going to try it out and see what happens. Worst they can say is no and I have to recruit someone to help me.

    Re: Organizer Question

You already have Player Management Lv1, why not take the Yu-Gi-Oh Rules Knowledge test? The you will be able to be TO & Judge for your events. Unless this is more than a local you should be able to handle both jobs.

    Re: Organizer Question

From what I been told a Level 0 Judge can be The Head Judge as long as they past the Level 1 Test for that game they will be judging

    Re: Organizer Question

Everyone can be a judge (or head judge for that matter), regardless what his qualifications are. Still, we generally recommend to use people who are actively taking part in the certification program and have passed at least a level 1 test. This will ensure a higher quality of the enforcement of the correct rulings and have some other advantages.

However, I understand that this is not always possible, so if there's no other way, it is possible to use people as judges that haven't been certified. Furthermore, the TO and the head judge can be the same person, nothing in our policies is saying anything against that. :)

    Kind regards,
