Card Materials: Why is Japanese paper higher grade than American paper?

    Why is it in Japan,
The Japanese cards are made of a higher grade Cardboard.
When here in America we get dinky horrible Cardboard.

Like You can get Japanese Cards wet and they don't absorb it like American Cards would.
There Thicker, Stronger, And more Durable where here in America if you hold certin Ultimate Rares they instanly start bending on your finger cause of how light they are.

Why doesnt Upperdeck start printing the cards in a Higher Grade cardboard so people can stop.
Replacing everything they accidently ruin when they drop it.

You can be rugged with Japanese Cards cause of how much more Sturdier they are.
    Not with American Cards.

Does anyone else know this difference?
Or am I the only one?

Truth is, I'm not sure. It could be the way that the methods the Japanese use to recycle cardboard could be different from ours. But I understand what you mean. Just the feel of the cards themselves feel a lot glossier than ours. Our Hobby League promos remind me of the texture of a lot of the texture of some of my Japanese cards.

well actually i heard from my friend who is an OCG player that the japanese use special chemicals to alternate it because the cards will then be able to resist the humidity so the dont bend.

Wow, I wish we had that here. For me, my cards are either in my binder or my deckbox for fear of bending.

Japan is also very humid almost year round, remember that they have to modify chemical compositions for working best in the region they are marketing it to.

I personally would love it if Upperdeck did it here.

I live in Florida and it is ALWAYS HOT AND HUMID!
My cards always bend up cause of it!

I can vouche for that.  I bought a PP2 (Pulled Voltic and Woddsman,  that's 20 packs and no Mezuki) ran into Burger king for a Drink and came out two minutes later,  The cards looked like tiny bridges.

Ouch Spectre, heh. Are either of you, or anyone else on here, near St. Petersburg, Florida? I moved  earlier this year from Fort Lauderdale. There were tons of people back home but it's impossible to find anyone here who plays. *fingers crossed* =P

It is a little known fact, but a fact nonetheless, that licensors can exercise control over all aspects of card creation, including stock, ink, and foil treatments.

Same for me, I get upset if I accidentally drop my cards (even if they're in card sleeves) most of my cards are in good condition except for my precious Queen's Knight Ultimate rare. Had to pull out from my dogs mouth, it's not that messed up but you can see teeth marks on it T_T. Apparently my dog chewed up my deck box but that was about a year ago.

Wish UDE would do what the Konami Japan do when they create their HIGH QUALITY Yugioh Cards,

Would a Petition for HIGH Quality here in the forum help??

With the United States having advancements in technology....it should be easy to duplicate what the Japanese do with their cards......

wish they would listen and read any kind of petition we make here Idea [I]

We have the technology! We can rebuild them! lol

We won't though, too much money I think. We've already taken what we've been given, there's no reason for them to spend more money to make us a little more chipper. The Japanese are just smarter anyway, all that schooling.. *quiver*
