As winter falls upon the northern hemisphere here in our world, a chill runs through the world of Azeroth with 2010 approaching. This will be a year-long winter, as our TCG heroes set sail for the icy shores of Northrend and eventually the Frozen Throne itself.

The first frost of a year coats the landscape in a pristine crystal shimmer, but the beauty of that shine masks the work of death. The ice slowly chokes the life out of everything it touches, and nothing can prepare you for the freezing temperatures of Northrend. This isn’t a cold that can be guarded against with a furry mane, cloak, or simple fire. This cold is born of darkness; it assails you at your core. He, that damned creature, he wants your soul!

Scourgewar!

As we close the door on 2009, Scourgewar tosses us immediately into the battle for our lives. The Lich King peers down from Icecrown Citadel as his Scourge forces threaten every living thing in the world—not only with death, but with recruitment! You’ll need every new ability and every new piece of gear as you fight the shambling hordes of undead.

With this introduction to Wrath of the Lich King content, you’ll arm yourself with two new keywords, the Spectral Kitten Loot card, and the Master Hero Kel’thuzad! You can gear up with booster packs and the Scourgewar Epic Collection, the latter a treasure chest of epic proportions. It holds five Scourgewar booster packs, an exclusive Scourgewar deckbox, playmat, and poster! You won’t be able to find these items anywhere else! Plus, it’s the first TCG product to guarantee Loot. Every single Epic Collection will contain one Tiny Mount Loot card!

Storming the Castle

The resurrected fortress Naxxramas looms high above Dragonblight, just a few clicks away from the city of Dalaran. The horrors held within the walls of the floating graveyard are drooling (or oozing) just to get a taste of you. Yes, a taste—they bite.

After clearing through four wings of Scourge in the Naxxramas Raid Deck, you’ll ground the resurrected Sapphiron and then put the necromancer Kel’thuzad on ice for good! You can then loot your Treasure Pack, or you can now buy the Treasure Pack separate from the Raid Deck if you’re not quite prepared. They’ll contain all new gear from the raid dungeon for your TCG heroes, alternate art heroes, randomized foils, and will have loot cards from Fields of Honor randomly inserted in packs!

Get Some Class

The first release for 2010, you’ll be able to pick up and immediately play as your favorite class and faction combination with the Class Decks. Straight out of the box, you’ll be able to light up opponents as a Horde Mage or axe them a question as an Alliance Warrior.

It’s great for introductory players, as they’ll be able to instantly play the same class as their MMO character or explore new classes. They’ll be treated to a collection of cards hand-selected by R&D as iconic and easy to get started with. About half of each deck’s content is fixed and specific to one class while the rest of the deck consists of a randomized selection from a pool of either Horde or Alliance cards, making each deck unique. For both the new and veteran player, these decks will contain three new quests for each faction and updated versions of King Magni Bronzebeard or Lady Sylvanas Windrunner! Plus, players will have a chance of cracking any Loot card ever printed!

The Gate to Glory

Coming later next year—you may have survived the initial rush of Scourgewar, but can you hold firm at Wrathgate? Rising up to meet the shadowy wretches head-on, the Argent Crusade focuses their holy might at the waves of undead. To battle the lich sorcerer Kel’thuzad, players will be able to recruit a third Master Hero—and this time it’s on the side of good!

Crown of Thorns

The first time you left the safe harbor of your city and set sail for the shores of Northrend, you knew it was going to come to this. With the final set of the Wrath of the Lich King block, Icecrown takes you to the foot of Icecrown Citadel for the cataclysmic battle of the Lich King’s forces against you and your own—or will you betray your friends for the power that can only be found in darkness?

And finally, you will be able to clear the Icecrown Citadel Raid Deck, ridding Azeroth of its greatest threat and becoming the hero you always knew you would be. Will you be able to slay the fallen Paladin and the ultimate traitor to the Alliance? Will you be able to free Azeroth from a never-ending winter? Find out next year as you and your friends will stand toe-to-toe with the greatest power in all of Warcraft!

That’s the frame for our releases of 2010—with a few surprises held back to be revealed throughout the year. We can’t spoil it all! While you may want to hibernate this coming winter, true heroes will rise up with fire in their bellies to combat the Scourge onslaught.
