    [Official] Loot Card Information

    Hi Folks,

I'm making an offical loot card post to answer everyone's questions here and to tell you some plans for the future.

    Notes About UDE Point Items:

    1. At launch we've put up three in-game items and four wallpapers.

    2. The primary focus of the next week will be testing the system live and make sure it works flawlessly.

    3. The wallpapers are very cheap at 100 points each. You get 100 points free in every pack of cards.

    4. The in-game items are a supplement to the 3 in-game items you can get from loot cards inserted into the packs. The loot cards have the Tabard of Flame, Hippogryph Pet and the Turtle Mount.

    5. The bonus in-game items you can get from UDE points are: Tabard of Frost, Eternal Fireworks Trinket and the Ogre Disguise Kit.

    6. All rewards from the card game are cosmetic only. We did not want to hand out weapons or armor or epic mounts or anything that someone felt they needed to be competetive in the game. So, some items will definitely seem weak to certain types of players but will be appreciated by other types of players. We don't expect everyone to like everything.

    7. The Tabard of Frost is a blue version of the Tabard of Flame. The design on this tabard is the icon for Landro Longshot and his faction. It can also be seen on the back of every WOW TCG card. This item is fairly cheap (2500 points) but requires a lifetime 25,000 points to get it.

    8. The Eternal Fireworks Trinket shoots off a unique fireworks display and is reusable, unlike most fireworks. The last version of the fireworks display I saw was pretty solid.

    9. The ogre disguise kit is like a reusable Gordok Ogre Suit that doesn't require you to go to Dire Maul and spend 20 minutes clearing every time you want to use it. It also doesn't require any materials - once you get it, you have it forever.

    10. Future items include: Unique rubber playmats (including an Onyxia playmat), Yeti Token Card set, Dwarf Token Card Set, Fine Art Prints, Onyxia's Lair Treasure Packs, Molten Core Treasure Packs, Magtheridon Treasure Packs, Naxxramus Treasure Packs, Unique Card Sleeves, Unique Deck Boxes, Original Artwork (signed), Packs of Hero Cards (for running drafts or sealed deck), Custom Udeck Sleeves, Unique posters, Unique Life Trackers, Leeroy Jenkins foil-version, Thrall foil-version, Arcanite Reaper and many other foil versions of cards and several things that I am not allowed to announce yet, but should be announced by the time Burning Crusade releases. We will be adding in-game and out-of-game items as time progresses, so save your points if you don't see anything you like right away. There is no hurry.

    11. For the top items, it should take players several months to acheive these, depending on the participation on organized play, number of packs they open, their community participation, etc.

    12. There are many ways to earn points. Every pack gives you free points. Special "UDE Points" tournaments can award huge point totals for the top players and we'll be starting contests for members of the community to earn points.

    13. Our intent is to have a "frequent flyer" program similar to an airline or a credit card. These are bonus items you get as a thank-you from us. We realize that these are not ZOMG Phat Lootz, but we do think some of the stuff that is coming up is pretty sweet.

    14. I set all of these point totals after carefully calculating how many tournaments the average person will compete in, how many boosters they will buy and how much they will do in the community. I then halfed the cost of everything. I think they point values are pretty good, keeping in mind that life would be very boring if every player is running around in an Ogre suit on day one.

    15. If you have suggestions for more things to add from points, let me know ASAP via a personal message and I'll work on it.

    16. This is very much a community driven type of project and I am constantly telling people how great the WOW TCG community is, so please don't dissapoint me with negative messages. If you have a suggestion, I will definitely listen to it, so let's use that strategy first.

    17. We are considering putting in some UDE Points cards in future booster packs with values over 100. For example, we could randomly insert a 5000 point card into random boosters. I would like feedback on that idea.

    18. Note that Raid Deck treasure packs from UDE Points are non-foil versions. The only way to get foil versions of treasure packs are from the Raid Decks themselves.

    Thanks guys!

    - Jeff

I think what you have so far is great. So few game companies actually bother with point redemption programs that when you actually see it, its a pleasant surprise. I think what you have laid out is fair all things considered. I like the idea for random point cards worth 5000 and whathaveyou, its deffinately a nice bonus.

Great post there. As for the random bonus in points...great idea especially for noobs like me that have no chance in tournaments.  :P

Random 5000 points would be wicked.  Could you give me an idea on how much playmats and tokens will cost points wise.  HINT: If you do, I will run out and buy another box just for you, even though they went up to 120 at the shop. lol.

Playmats and Token cards will be pretty cheap. They will be the first "physical" items we sell so they will include a shipping and handling charge.

We are working out the best way to get these delivered in other continents without being destroyed.

    Take Care,

Why GAWD WHY did they have to start this new addiction...I mean I just got out of rehab over collecting coins and stamps and magic the gathering! (i'm joking...there is no cure for people like me!)

I think you folks have a great idea here. Though I wish some of the items were a bit cheaper, but alas, things are working as intended. :) Keep up the good work.

    Re: [Official] Loot Card Information

Are there intentions to award UDE points in recognition of someone's contrinution to the ONLINE community, and contribute to the game's success in that form, as well as the people who go out onto the street and organise tournaments?

the obvious example is Ripark. He's probably sold as many starter decks and hooked enough new players, with his presence on this forum, as well as his website columns.

I think that's a great example, and while in reality, all of the one-off item  'auctions' are likely to be won by retailers who have accumulated ten times more loot cards than any of the players on this forum, I'd be a lot happier knowing that the rest of us can earn points through hard work within the community, rather than depending on money or oppurtunity, to acquire some of the rarer items...

Absolutely. I won't announce the details until I think they're perfect, but that is a high priority for us.

Thanks Tyma.  You're too kind. ;-)

Back in the day, in the early forum days, there was mention of this before.  Nothing came of it (yet), and honestly, none of us were doing this just to get something out of it.  We did it (and for me continue to do it) because we believe in this game.  Period.  I don't expect anything out of my efforts other than the enjoyment I have interacting with folks in the community on a regular basis.

I did get a writing gig with TCGPlayer though. =)

    Right, good, good.

I can now go drive to another country, for my "local" release celebration, knowing that the WoW TCG has yet again become even more exciting than it was before.

    At this point it actually feels like this whole game is a gift from Upper Deck. There's no ammount of money we can spend, to keep our our 'side of the deal'. The list of future rewards you've just posted is making me giddy :{

how does it work for us peoples in europe?? the shipping over the ocean would be a little bit expensive for playmats and stuff like this in the same size.

I expect European products will be manufactured or shipped from Weesp
