Alright, continuing onward along the lines of the fan favorite FAQ I
started in July, I have decided to go ahead and start the much needed
Rules Questions FAQ. I will only be placing questions that seem
to be asked a lot, and only those that have been answered by an
official source (or the answer is obvious from the rulebook).

Heroes of Azeroth/General FAQ
Q: Does armor get destroyed if it is used to prevent the maximum amount of damage they can (i.e. 4 for Draconian Deflector)?A: No. Nowhere in the description of armor does it say that you destroy the armor if you use it. [Rules PDF pg 17]
Q: When I use an ability like Fireball, does my Hero take damage from the target because he is defending?A: No. Abilities do not cause combat and thus "trading damage" does not happen. [Rules PDF pg 24]
Q: Does the damage symbol for Kagra of the Crossroads mean she doesn't take combat damage from a defender?A:
No. The ranged damage symbol (bow and arrow) just means thats the kind
of damage she does. Don't confuse this ranged damage symbol with
the Long-Range keyword which would allow an attacker to not take combat
damage from a defender. [Rules PDF pg 26]
Q: Does damage go on the Chain?A: No, neither does Protector or exhausting armor to block damage. [
reference,
reference]
Q: Do Ongoing abilities stack (i.e. from Demoralizing Shout)?A: Yes, abilities and effects with the Ongoing descriptor do stack unless otherwise noted on the card. [
reference]
Q:
Is it possible to use items like Edgemaster's Handguards with the
Arcanite Reaper to create a situation where you have a negative strike
cost?A: No, the lowest value for costs of any kind in the game is zero. [
reference]
Q: Does a Hero need a weapon to play Cleave, Sinister Strike, etc.?A:
No, it will just do 1 damage each to up to two target allies.
Generally speaking, any specific requirements will be stated directly
on the card as such. [
reference]
Q: Can I attack with all of my allies against a Hero at the same time (in one combat step)?
A: No, combat is done on a one-on-one basis. [Rules PDF, pg. 24]
Q: If I have a Druid Hero but a Mage Ally out on the field, can I use a Mage Ability?A:
Fraid not. In order for you to even have that Ability in your
deck, it has to share a Trait Icon (faction or class for now) with your
Hero.
Q: How long does Polymorph last?A: Polymorph should have the Ongoing keyword, so it will last until your opponent finds a way of ridding himself of it.
Q: What happens when an Elusive character Attacks? Do they take damage?A: Yes, Elusive only pertains to being proposed as a defender, and even then has nothing to do with damage.
Q: What can't I do the turn an Ally comes into play?A:
They cannot use any Activated Powers or Attack until they have been
in your party since the beginning of your turn. The exception to
this is Freocity which allows an Ally to attack the turn they come into
play.
Q: Is the ranged damage symbol on Allies mean they have Long-Range?A:
Nope, the ranged damage symbol just denotes the type of damage that
Ally deals. Long-Range is a keyword and would be present directly
on the card if they had Long-Range.
Q: When does Voss Treebender's Power trigger?A:
The way it works is that if you are Attacking with Voss, during the
Attack Window his Power will trigger, allowing you to exhaust a target
Ally or Hero (it doesn't have to be what you are attacking). Note
that this is done before the Protection Point, thus you can exhaust a
Protector and prevent it from Protecting.
Q: How does Voss Treebender and Donna Calister interact when Voss attacks?A:
During the Attack window, both triggered powers trigger.
We'll assume that Voss's power is targetting Donna. Since Voss is
attacking and thus his controller is the turn player, Voss's triggered
power goes on the Chain first. Donna's goes on it after
that. Donna's resolve, readying Donna, then Voss's power
resolves, exhausting Donna.
Q: When I play a resource face down, can I use that card later in the game?A: No, currently there is no way of picking up that card in order to use it.
Q: Do Allies come into play exhausted?A:
No, however, when they come into play they cannot Attack (unless they
have ferocity) or use Activated Powers until they have been in your
party since the beginning of your turn.
Q: Can Ta'Zo use Frostbolt? He's a Fire spec'd mage and Frostbolt is a Frost spec'd Ability.A:
Yes. If a card specifically requires a certain talent spec they
will say "<talent> Hero Required" in big bold letters where
<talent> is a talent spec. See
Pyroblast as an example.
Q: When I use Sinister Strike/Backstab with Barman Shanker, can I use its +2 ATK bonus?A:
Note that Abilities like SS and Backstab do not cause a combat, so your
Hero is not Attacking, thus Barman Shanker will not have the +2
ATK. Now, say that you are Attacking an exhausted character with
your Hero equipped with Barman Shanker. After your Hero begins
attacking in the Attack Window, and after the Defender begins defending,
there is a window where you can use Instant Abilities. This is
where you could use SS/Backstab and get the +2 ATK bonus from Barman
Shanker. NOTE: there is a window after the Attacker begins
attacking, however, since we don't have a defender yet, the Barman
Shanker does not have the ATK bonus yet.
Q: When does damage come from a Weapon?A:
Any time you deal combat damage with your Hero and you used a weapon in
a strike, all combat damage is considered to have come from that
weapon. [
reference]
Q: Can you attack with a particular character multiple times?A:
If you found a way to ready the character, you can attack with that
character again in that turn. Note that for Heroes, unless you
had an equipment or Ability that provided an ATK value while attacking,
you'd need to also have a ready weapon to strike with in order to deal
any damage in combat.
Q: Do you have to have a weapon in order to Attack with your Hero?A:
Negative. While striking with a weapon will be your primary way
of giving your Hero an ATK boost, striking with a weapon is
optional. There are other ways of giving your Hero some ATK while
attacking, like Blessing of Might.
Q: Is there a max number of Allies that I can have in play?A: No. You can have as many out there as you can pay for.
Q: What is the standard maximum hand size?A: 7, but it can be changed via various Abilities.
Q:
Power Word: Fortitude, if I apply it to my Hero with 31 Health but no
damage, what happens? What about if he/she has damage on him/her?A:
So two scenarios here. Now, keep in mind that we discuss damage
as if you are adding damage counters to a character, rather than taking
a life count and decreasing it as it takes damage. For the first
scenario, the PW:F would give your Hero now a 36 Health, with no
damage. For the second secnario say your Hero had 5 damage
counters on it, the PW:F would increase the Hero to 36 Health, but the
5 damage counters will remain.
Q: If I have Mason's Fraternity Ring equipped but no weapon, can I Attack with my Hero and still deal damage?A: Yes, providing no other modifiers, your Hero will deal one damage with one Mason's Fraternity Ring equipped.
Q: When does Fireball's Damge over Time effect trigger?A:
Right after readying there is a Window in which all "Start of Turn"
triggered Powers go on the Chain. The Fireball's DoT effect would
go on the Chain there.
Q: When time is called and the current turn player finishes his/her turn, how many extra turns do we take?A:
Three total, not three per player. Normally, if there are two
players Player A and Player B and Player A is the turn player when time
is called, the three extra turns go Player B, Player A then Player
B. Chromie can disrupt this ordering.
Q: If I use Chromie's Power during the third and final additional turn after time is called, what happens?A: Nothing. You do not receive the extra turn due to Chromie's Power resolving.
Q:
Lets say I have an Arcanite Reaper equipped to my Hero and I strike
with it during a combat. If I found a way to ready it during
combat and strike with it again, does the ATK stack, meaning I would
get +5 ATK for the first strike and +10 ATK for the second for a total
of +15 ATK to my Hero?A: No, you get +5 ATK for each strike for a total of +10 ATK in this combat.
Q: Can I equip two one-handed weapons to my Rogue Hero since they have the Dual Wielding ability in the MMO?A: No, Dual Wielding as a TCG mechanic is present as a card in Through the Dark Portal.

Onyxia's Lair FAQ:
Q: Does Onyxia draw up to her max hand size upon entering a new stage?A:
No, upon entering a new stage, the Onyxia player replaces the current
stage Onyxia card with the new stage Onyxia card. That card comes into
play in the same orientation as the previous one with any attachments
still attached and face up.
Q: What does "friendly" Hero refer to?A: Friendly Heroes are all Heroes on your team, including yourself.
Q: Can I customize the Raid Deck? Can I customize the Event Deck?A:
The Onxyia's Lair raid deck can be customized with cards that have the
Onyxia trait icon. It has a 60 card minimum with no more than 4 copies
of any one card. Event decks cannot be customized.
Q: With Another Lesson, can Onyxia effectively wipe the board of Allies if she keeps dealing combat damage to them?
A: Yes.
Q: When are treasure pack cards legal for constructed (non-Raid) play?A: December 13th, 2006.
Q: Can I attach Engulfing Flames to Onyxia with Inventor's Focal Sword?A: Yes, IFS does not care about the "opposing" portion of Engulfing Flames text, only the card type. [
reference]
Q: What happens to a Whelp token if I Fear it?
A: It goes bye-bye. If you have to put a token into your hand it ceases to be as part of PPP.
Q: Can Onyxia have more than 20 Whelps out?A:
Yes, there is no limit to the number of whelps that you can put in
play. You do have to find a way to put more than 20 out, but hey, it
can be done.
Q: What happens to a whelp when it is destroyed?A: It briefly hits the graveyard and then cases to exist as part of PPP. [CR 402.2a].
