Re: Scourgewar Preview - Your Soul is on Fire

    Constructed powerhouse; limited non-factor.

In order to gain any sort of advantage on the non-mirrored effect, you need to target an ally whose health is greater than the highest ATK of allies in your party, and whose ATK is less than the health of any ally in your party.

    You have a X/Y.

If he has a Y/X+1, he trades favorably.  You lose an ally, and can't take advantage of the non-mirrored effect.
If he has an Y-1/X, he kills his own ally to protect his board.  You're left with a damaged ally, but don't get the effect of the card at all.

In short, your opponent's answers to Detonate Soul are your allies.  That's awesome if you have no allies.  That's not awesome if you have allies.

Control warlock generally doesn't play many allies.

Re: Scourgewar Preview - Your Soul is on Fire

First off I quote from the article:

One line in particular is very important, so read closely—it says, "At the start of your turn, REMOVE attached ally and all opposing allies FROM THE GAME." I'm sure that all of you have seen the Death Rattle keyword by now, and obviously you’ve understood just how powerful it is. This card gets around Death Rattle nicely, as the allies are removed rather than destroyed. Of course, what makes this card so great is that the effect is completely one-sided! You don't have to worry about killing your own dudes in conjunction with using this little gem.

The highlighted text refers to allies with Death Rattle (only one of which we have seen). This is a highly speculative statement that only applies if there are multiple playable allies with Death Rattle.

Now onto playability...potentially huge...I think that it may replace my Suspended Curses, since for one more it becomes a board wipe. (I understand that Suspendeds target more things, however I tend to Banish to the Nether those and slap Suspendeds on allies lately).

Completely disagree. This card is a limited bomb. Obviously, you don't play it in the scenario you described. You also have the option of kamakazying your dude into another one.

Nice detective work! I think we were all assuming there would be some Death Rattle dudes, but this looks like a subtle confirmation that there will be.

Does the Andarius trick really work? Detonate triggers
    Bounce Detonate with Andarius' flip
Does it kill the guy it was attached to? Isn't there usually some sort of double-check by cards like this, to make sure they're still attached?
Does it still kill everything else?

This combo works. It's been well known that Andarius' flip synergizes with Suspend Curse. If you have Suspend Curse in your limited deck, he would be the hero of choice.

A double-check would be worded like Moonfire.

eh, this card seems ok.  warlock has plenty of ally control as it is, so adding this card to the arsenal just seems a little much.  the thing that turns me away from this card is the cost.  3 falls in place to be fizzled.  if this cost 4 i would be pretty excited about this card.

The scenario where you are left with a damaged ally is still good. The card forced your opponent to make a bad trade. Also, this works well if you have elusive allies.

Oh, if you have Inventor's Focal Sword, you can force your opponent to make unfavourable trades.

Re: Scourgewar Preview - Your Soul is on Fire

I don't think this card is that great in constructed. As Markoff explained, it's better than Invoke if you also have allies, but then the opponent can just run his guy into yours to get around the attachment. So, I'd prefer Invoke the Nether, but we'll see what gets played. I doubt there's room for both in Warlock decks.

While we're on the topic of Warlocks, the German site got another exclusive preview, this time featuring a Warlock pet on the common slot: http://www.warcraft-tcg.de/forum/newsdetail.php?id=1500 (the card image is in English, so you guys can check it out)
